Hi all,

Can you please advise the road from Bangalore to Nanded (and udgir) and back by road?

I need to travel next week and am contemplating going by road, by rail or by air.

Thanks.

BLR - Nanded : two options:
1. BLR- Chitradurga (on NH4). Turn right at CHitradurga to go NH-13 towards Bijapur. Go past Bijapur, Solapur, Barshi & Bid. After Bid, turn right to go Parbhani and then to Nanded.

2. BLR - Hyderabad, Kamareddy, Nizamabad by-pass, Nirmal. Turn left at Nirmal towards Parbhani. Nanded will be before Parbhani.

Nanded to Udgir : is via Ahmadpur. 115 km. More detailed directions is best locally. Udgir is to the south of Nanded.

If you are going to touch Udgir en-route, (either when going or when returning), then you have an option to do a BLR - Hiriyr - Bellary - Sindhnur - Shorpur - Gulbarga - Bidar - Bhalki - Udgir. You wont have to touch Bidar, though.

But considering the rains at this time, may be better to do one of the highways.

Hi Condor,

Thanks. This is good info. So it may be better to go to Udgir first (thats what I need to do anyways, I think....). Would you know whether the road conditions are good? How long do you think it should take to reach there? 18-20 hours of driving?

Dont rains generally stop in Maharashtra with Ganesh visarjan? Thats' what I recall and hence was planning for the following week.

Do you know also if there are good train connections?
Which would be the closest airport? Aurangabad?
What about hotels?
And if I can hire a good car or get a good cab (if i go by train or air)?

I may have to be there for 2-5 days, hence need more information.

The route should be Bangalore - Hiriyur - Challakere - Molakalmuru - Bellary. The best bet for you for eating joints are before Hiriyur. You have Kamat at Sira bye pass and many before Tumkur. Keep a driving time of Six hours excluding breaks. You will find signage at Hiriyur for tiurning to Bellary.

Bangalore, Karnataka to Bellary, Karnataka - Google Maps

Re: Bangalore - Nanded & back

Though the road from Hiriyur to Bellary is a state highway, it is in excellent condition, lot of speed breakers have been removed now and it is easily doable in 4.5 hours time. I did a trip last month to Mantralaya via Bellary and was able to reach Bellary from my house(336 km in about 5 hours with an average speed of 70 - 80 kmph all the way).

You can also take the BLR-HYD Bypass-NH 9-Sangareddy-Digloor-Nanded route. Roads till Sangareddy are excellent and even beyond that, the roads should be nice.

Re: Bangalore - Nanded & back

Just a thought :

How is Mahbubnagar-Zaheerabad route? Because if that is good, then one
need not even go all the way to Hyd bypass.

Bangalore-Mahbubnagar-Zaheerabad-Bidar-Malegaon-Nanded.

Any thoughts?

Re: Bangalore - Nanded & back

I do not know the road conditions from Mahbubnagar-Zaheerabad.
From Shadnagar a road has been developed via Shahabad-Chevella-Shankarpally to Kandi on
the Hyderabad-Mumbai highway. This would be a better options to bypass Hyderabad.

The road condition from Mahbubnagar to Zaheerabad is very good, I believe still toll is not collected on JNRR in Hyderabad, if so this is an excellent stretch to drive and join the Mumbai highway, after this ring road, it is a single lane road and is in good condition till Bidar City. From Bidar you can take Aurad, Degaloor, Nanded route.
