Greater Noida to Siliguri | Traveling with dog | Route query

Hi,

I will be travelling end of May from Greater Noida to Siliguri in my car, 2 adults and 1 dog. I plan to divide the journey in 2 days with 1 night halt. We are 2 adults, wife and me. Both know driving and we have travelled with our labrador across long distances in the car though Himachal Pardesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi - Kolkata, etc.
Please suggest the best route with a night stopover where us and our dog can be accommodated, maybe hotels, homestays . Accomodation should be decent and not too expensive but pet friendly.

Good morning,

Back in December, I had to drive from Kolkata to Delhi with our dog and we stopped over at Varanasi, at a hotel called Kriti Greens just off NH19. This suggestion came from BHPian Predatorwheelz, who had stayed at Kriti Greens with his pet dog on his Delhi-Kolkata road trips. The hotel was alright for an overnight stay (I checked in at 2am and left by 7am), but lacked in service (no towels, one of the beds didn't have a bedsheet, etc). Of course, this could be due to me checking in so late at night, and hence I didn't think too much about it. It was only when I was talking to Predatorwheelz last week that he told me that it is a one-off case and he (and everyone else he has recommended the hotel to) has always had a pleasant experience. I had paid Rs. 1500 for the stay.

I will most likely be starting for another Delhi-Kolkata drive tomorrow night with my parents and our dog, and have planned to stop over at Varanasi. Will give Kriti Greens another try this time and update this thread.

Regards,
Sayantan

Re: Greater Noida to Siliguri | Traveling with dog | Route query

For Greater Noida to Siliguri, Gorakhpur should be your overnight stay. I have done this route multiple times and you should take the Yamuna Expressway - Agra Lucknow Expressway - Lucknow Outer Ring Road - Purvanchal Expressway till Exit onto NH 330A (Rae Bareilly Road) - Ayodhya and then drive onto Gorakhpur. From Gorakhpur, Kushinagar - Gopalganj - Muzzafarpur - Darbangha - Araria - Bagdogra - Siliguri.

Roads are mostly good with only small patches where some work is being down near Muzzafarpur and few bad patches short of Bagdogra.

The other option is to drive till the end of Purvanchal Expressway and then reach Patna on day one. The next day you could go to Muzzafarpur and then follow the above suggested route. I don’t like this route much because I hate entering Patna and the road from Patna to Muzzafarpur was very crowded last time I travelled on it, plus you have to cross Muzzafarpur too (it gets bypassed if you come from Gorakhpur)

Infact I am currently doing the reverse trip and replying to this post from Gorakhpur where I am staying with my wife and my dog. Unfortunately I can’t suggest a place to stay as I am in the armed forces and get to stay in our Officers’ Messes along the way.
I hope the route suggested helps though.

@docsinghal thank you for the suggestion. I actually need to know a hotel to stay either at Gorakhpur or Azamgarh (if I take Purvanchal Expressway) with my dog. There are limited options online. How far is Kunarghat from NH 27

You should message @Sheel. He did this route in the last week of March.

I covered Delhi to Gorakhpur 3 months back on my trip to Nepal - The roads are fantastic and can easily be covered in less than 12 hours with plenty of good food and resting options till Ayodhya.
