Please do not take this route, better to drive via Bijapur.

Please avoid Mahabubnagar Sedam route unless you've read my experience here (Bangalore to Gulbarga : Route Queries) or you have latest updates on the road condition between the 2 towns

You may probably try Blr-Shadnagar-Pargi-Sedam instead. The best option currently is Blr-Chitradurga-Bijapur Outer-Gulbarga, the next one is Blr-Kurnool-Gadwal-Raichur-Shahabad-Glb in terms of overall tarmac quality

Traveled to Gulbarga last week and the route taken was
Bangalore >> Chitradurga >> Hospet >>Almatti >> Bijapur >> Devarhippargi >> Sindagi >>Jevargi >> Gulbarga.

Excellent roads throughout. Only issue in the 4 lane highway between Hospet and Bijapur is that locals come from the opposite side on bikes / Tractors and bullock carts, we need to be careful about that.

The Return journey was also traveled by the same route

The total distance is more by about 40 to 50 Kms but roads are really good

G-maps suggests to skip Bijapur and instead take Hungund-Devarahippargi. Any reason not to take this ?

Re: Bangalore to Gulbarga : Route Queries

We always take the route via NH 44 (B'lore - Hyd) because:
1) Less traffic congestion unlike Tumkur route.
2) Overall good road unlike very bad section around Siruguppa.
3) Takes lesser time. The Siruguppa route feels forever to reach.

Route will be Bengaluru-Anantpur-Gooty(NH44)-Yemmiganur-Mantralayam-Raichur-Yadagir-Gulbarga.

PS : We keep traveling every fortnight.

It is best to ignore Gmaps and avoid Devarahippargi as the roads are horrible even though it is SH. Bijapur bypass is slightly longer but a better experience.

Many times yes, but I do have cousins who travel in the region. Hence, I also get inputs that are from known people

How about the route BLR-Kurnool-Kothakota-Sedam-Kalaburagi? Longer distance but approximately same time as the one you suggested. Road till Kothakota is good (as travel to HYD regularly), not sure of the latter part though.

Re: Bangalore to Gulbarga : Route Queries

No idea about the road conditions but it will take at least an hour more by this route.

Re: Bangalore to Gulbarga : Route Queries

Hello Guys,

I'm travelling to Kalaburagi soon. There are two routes which seem to be suggested:

1. Bengaluru-Anantpur-Gooty(NH44)-Yemmiganur-Mantralayam-Raichur-Yadagir-Gulbarga.

2. Bangalore >> Chitradurga >> Hospet >>Almatti >> Bijapur >> Devarhippargi >> Sindagi >>Jevargi >> Gulbarga.

OR Hungud >> Devarhippargi

Has anyone travelled BLR>KLBG recently? Which route did you take? Where did you stop for breakfast/lunch/dinner?
