Need Help: Hyderabad to Pondicherry, Where to stay and palces to see in Pondy.

Hello Guys
Planning for Hyderabad to Pondicherry

Need help on :

Where to stay in Pondicherry , preferrably a beach resort and an economic one.
what to see: apart from Auroville, Paradise beach,
Where to eat: so far Rendezvous, Suguru

What we have decided:

Stay: St James beach resort (1800 doublebed)
------------------------------------------------
Route:
Destination: Pondicherry
Mode of transport: self driven cars

Route finalised: Hyd-Vijayawada-Chennai-Pondicherry = close to 870Km ( it being a GQ from Vijaywada till chennai ) so tilted towards this one and the other route is

Hyd-Kurnool-Chittor-Chetpet (not sure of the road conditions) = 780 Km

Please suggest
Adios

Ate breakfast at Indain cofee house , good one . Arcos ( not sure of name ) is good nonveg hotel .

I am sorry i dont know the address , just drove asked people and got there .

Where to go :

Read the travelogue

The promenade is also a good option, facing the sea and on the main beach road.

Service and food is not up to the mark at St. James.

Look up these two travelogues here (Travelogue : Destination anywhere along the East Coast !!) and here (Travelogue : The Newly Weds and their getaway to the East coast.), should give you a fair idea of what to see and spend time on.
