Re: Delhi to Indore : via Jaipur or Agra?

Yes, Ampere, this is the route I took to connect to the highway. Is there a better road?

Thanks

Yes that section is quite congested. Especially the roads around Kota Junction (Railway station). Quite surprised that the real bypass is still not up.

Jaipur - Agra : Brilliant 4-lane (~300km)
Agra - Delhi : Yamuna Express Way!

Yes Agra-Delhi should be fast. But it would also depend on the time taken to reach Express way. For Jaipur-Agra I think 4.5-5 would be a good bet.

First, the return journey: recently, I drove from Sagar to Indore via Bhopal. The roads are good all the way to Indore. Sagar>Vidisha>Bhopal is a good 2-laned SH. Bhopal>Dewas>Indore is a beautiful 4-lane toll SH/NH. So, I suggest, you can consider this route: Indore>Dewas>Bhopal bypass>Vidisha>Bina>Jhansi>Gwalior>Agra>Gurgaon. The details are here. Please note that I have not driven the Sagar bypass route via Bina; the Jhansi>Gwalior stretch is a 2-lane stretch prone for traffic jams.

Now, coming to the up journey, you can consider Gurgaon>Jaipur>Kishangarh>Bhilwara>Chittorgarh>Nee much>Ratlam>Indore. I have done this route, not recently, but a few years back, which is an excellent 4-lane toll NH.

J Ravi has answered it perfectly.

- Gurgaon-Jaipur-Chitorh - Nimbaheda - Ratlam - Lebad - Indore. (Good 4-lane past Jaipur). Though I dont know the current status of NH8 on the Delhi-Jaipur sector. There were lot of constructions on going as per what I read last.

It's in perfect shape now , most of the flyovers are now complete , I did this recently on the way to Kandla , from Gurgaon it should take no more than 4 hours with one break at the most time of day.

Then you are good to go. Jaipur-Chittorh-Ratlam-Indore. It forms a nice corridor.

Hi,
Just wanted to know what route you took finally? I'm on a long trip (chandigarh to Karwar) starting 15 Jun and wanted to route via Agra to show Taj mahal to the kids. Next stop Indore/Mhow.

My Question: How is the road from Agra/Gwalior to Indore, and which way is recommended... ? Given an option, i would not like to take the longer option (going back towards jaipur and coming down via Chittor to Indore).
Thanks in advance

Re: Delhi to Indore : via Jaipur or Agra?

hello everyone. Bringing this thread alive.
I am considering driving to Indore in a month with family. Has anyone recently undertaken a trip to Indore from Delhi NCR? Although I am inclined to take the route via. Jaipur, the other option via Gwalior is shorter. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

thanks in advance

I would suggest the Jaipur option. Jaipur-Kishangarh-Chittorh-Neemuch-Ratlam-Lebad-Indore.

This is end to end 4-lane.
