Mumbai - Puttaparthi(Anantapur A.P.) - Mumbai

Hi,

I am planning to do Mumbai - Puttaparthi(Anantapur A.P.) - Mumbai between 15th-19th Aug 2008. I plan to take the NH 4 upto Chitardurga. Then i will be turning off towards Anatapur(A.P.) on the state highway.

The NH 13 can also be take upto Chitardurga but i guess its may not be the best road to take.(though it may be a shorter route.)

My family will also be travelling with me and hence i would like to choose a safe and less bumpy route. Also my car suspension is not very new and hence a smoother road is a better choice.

let me know the road conditions. Any other inputs are also welcome.

P.S. - Kumar Sir is going to be my online Navigator (i am confidently saying this without even asking him) so i have nothing to worry about. BUT all your inputs are also very valuable.

You can come upto Sira on NH4 and then take Sira - Madhugiri - Gauribidanur - Chikkaballapur. From here, it is straightforward to Puttaparthi.

Alternatively, you can try Hiriyur - Pavagada - Lakshmipuram - Somandepalle - Palasamudram - Puttaparthi.

Or, Haveri - Harpanahalli - Kotturu - Kudligi - Rayadurga - Kalyandurga - Dharmavaram - Puttaparthi

Recently done a Bangalore-Pune-Bangalore on NH4 and the roads near chitradurga, haveri, rannibennur are in the same old state, if not a bit worse since december last when i did the stretch. The roads in the above mentioned stretches are bad in patches only, but the overall NH4 stretch is great as usual.

I think you can stick to hrag's suggestion but i aint sure about that stretch though.
