driving from Bhopal (m.p) to chengannur (kerala) during the second week of july . looking for stay options between Hyderabad and Bangalore . preferably on the highway itself . within a span of about 200-250 kms from Hyderabad . any good eating joints have come up between hyd-blr ?

There is a Reliance petrol Pump A1 plaza ahead of Kurnool. It will be on the opposite side of the road for you. It has decent food and clean washrooms but it closes at 10: 30 pm.

After crossing Tungabhadra river [ you'd be technically in AP now] , follow the highway towards Blore and to the left, there's a huge IOCL [ not HPCL as suggested in maps] outlet after about 2-3 km [ and I bet you wouldn't miss it] .
Here, behind the bunk, you'll find this place with the entrance from beside the bunk . The place is similar to a resort and has ample of parking place [ leaving apart any shadow due to less trees, but it would be fine in the evening] . We ordered veg items and tandoori rotis and they were fine . The bill was also moderate.
I suggest this place can be used between hyd and blore since there will be absolutely no need to get into Kurnool for a decent hotel thus saving us a lot of time.

Traveled yesterday to Hyderabad-Coimbatore and back.

Hyderabad-Banglore excellent throughout.

A new speedbreaker at entry of Chikaballapur bypass while travelling towards Banglore.

A new restaurant at the junction of Devanahalli town and Devanahalli bypass.(Rani Cross or Nandi cross)

How did you by-pass bangalore city ? I am driving to Hyderabad from Palakkad in a couple of days. Earlier, I did by-pass bangalore city by taking the Mallur-Hoskote -NH-7 from Hosur.

Devanahalli - Hoskote - ChikaTirupathi -Alambadi Gate - Hosur.

I regularly use this route.
Roads are in good condition but very twisty and goes through villages but manageable. This is NH 207.
Ideally travel in the during daylight as you need to ask directions at some intersections.
If the route through Malur is good then use the same route. Please update about Malur route

+1 to M35. You should try Hoskote-Malur-Baglur-Hosur. Distance wise same, but its much less twisty compared to the Chikka Tiruputi option (NH207). I am told its in good condition too, but I cannot confirm.

Typing from Hyderabad.
Took the Hosur-Baglur-Malur-Hoskote-Devanahalli route to join NH-7, more precisely at an intersection where there is a restaurant called Nandi Upachar on the left. Breezed through all the way with excellent roads except for some occasional but very visible pot-holes mainly until Hoskote.

Will be returning tomorrow. Thinking of returning via Mysore and again need to by-pass Bangalore city. Thinking of taking the outer ring road – Tumkur Road- Nice Road –Mysore.

Also I see two routes from Nice Road towards Mysore taking a break there. Which one is the 4-lane Mysore highway ?

If Mysore:

You can do:

Devanahalli - Doddaballapur - Nelamangalaa - Kunigal - Belur Cross - Nagamangala - Srirangaptna - Mysore.

No Mysore road and No Bangalore !

Route Link

- Devanahalli-Doddaballpur is NH207
- Doddaballapur-Nelamangala is a decent state highway but expect it to be rough
- Nelamangala - Neligere is 4-lane NH
- Belur Cross to Srinrangapatna has lots of humps, pretty much like Mysore road. But this road has low traffic.
- Pandavpura to Srirangaptna has sugarcane traffic.

But still over all I think its worth it

But on the whole, dont expect the over all ride to be like 4-lane GQ.

How long did it take from Hosur to reach Devanahalli.
The route through Hoskote- Chikkatirupathi- Hosur takes about 1.30hrs

In my opinion Malur route should take the same, if not actually less. Thats simply because, you find less traffic and roads are less twisty.

About 1.45 hour, I guess. It was a stress-free drive with minimal traffic.

Oops !
Thanks Amp for the very prompt reply, as always but took the Mysore road and typing from Mysore now. Took the Nandi junction- Outer Ring Road- Mysore Road route. Though there were some heavy traffic until Tumkur road, the drive beyond which was quite fine.

Will be returning via Nanjangudu- Gundalpettai- Gudalur-Nilambur-Perinthalmanna- Home, tomorrow afternoon.

HP COCO is right after toll gate at the same gate, when going from blr side.

If coming from Bangalore, and if we take a U-turn to the bunk - is is possible to come back to the highway and continue towards Gooty / belum ?

AFAIK,they have closed the u-turn before the toll gate(they keep toggling with it).

There is a break in the median to turn back towards Gooty, but it is a fair distance away, not worth it.I regularly fill at the BP Coco during my onward drive towards Bangalore and during my return tank up at the new BP pumps on the Gooty bypass or else at the BP Coco at Manavpadu after Kurnool town.
