Hyderabad to Goa in Oct

Hello All:

We are planning to make a road trip to Goa in early October, there are a few families with kids who are planning to travel in about 4 cars/SUVs.
Looking for the following advice

1. We are hoping to use one route while going and another while returning back - what are the routes and latest road conditions?..which are the bad patches?
2. Any places you recommend that we stop and see on our way to or from Goa?
3. Do you recommend we do this trip in one day at a stretch?
4. If not, where would you recomend that we stop and stay?..any hotel recommendations.
5. If there are any places/hotels that you recommend that we stop for B'fast/Lunch or Dinner on the way to and from Goa, pls let me know.
6. Any other tips welcome.
Apologise if there is any other thread on the same, pls direct if so.
Thanks in advance
Varghese

From Hyderabad you can take the
Sanga Reddy - Sholapur (300kmfrom Hyd) - Bijapur (400km from Hyd) - Athni - Chikode - Belgaum - Amboli Ghat - Sawantwadi - Goa route.

1)Roads are in decent condition - if you start late afternoon (I generally leave Friday afternoon)you can stop for the night at Bijapur. Lots of decent, cheap accommodation options available. You can come back via the Raichur route
The roads are Ok all along & specially good from Bijapur - Belgaum.
2)You can stop & see Naldurg - right efore Sholapur, the Gol Gumbaj at Bijapur. Or even a short stop at the waterfall in Amboli
3)It can get tiring in one stretch if only one person is driving. The distance can be covered in about 16 hours or less with stops
4) In Bijapur, you could try Hotel Pearl
5) We generally have dinner in Sholapur in a place called Sips & Bites - quick & convenient - no gourmet food though! Its on the highway itself

Instead of going from Solapur to Bijapur, it is better to go to Mohol, then to Pandharpur and merge with NH4 at Kolhapur. See mobike008s thread of last month for this route. I plan to take this route.
If I start in the afternoon, then I will make a night halt at Solapur, as mobike008 did.
But if I start in the late morning, I plan to halt at Kolhapur, which is around 560 kms from Hyd.
Does anyone have suggestions on decent accomodation at Kolhapur?

I have decided to curb that crazy urge here on. So folks, you won't hear me blabering about my next visit to Goa for sometime now.

@Vargehese, check out my recent trip to goa by road. It has all the info that you need for your trip. If you want more details, hotel suggestions etc, PM me.

Warning: The travelogue may leave you bored/tired, so venture at your won risk

Our Plan

Thanks to all for your inputs.

Here is the plan that we have drawn up

Oct 1: Departure from Hyderabad at 0600 Hrs

We plan to stay in Belgam on the way.

Oct 5: Departure from Goa at 0800 Hrs after B/F
Take Carvar route to Hampi (near Hospet) - Hampi - Raichur - Hyd

Some help that i need
1. Do you think the route chosen on the way to Goa and back is good?
2. Plan to stop for lunch at Bijapur - any recommendations?
3. Any recommendation of where we should stay in Belgam?
4. On the way back, where should we stop for the night?...any recommendations of where we should stay.

Thanks

Hyd-Goa trip (Oct 4th - Oct 9th): Question on best route

Folks:
I need your help on this. I am planning a road trip from hyd to goa on 4th of Oct. Yesterday, I dug thro' the whole archive and found that there are two well known routes. Out of these two, sholapur one seems to the best. Is that right? Moreover, someone in one thread talked about an in-detail excel sheet that descrives the whole route. Can you please post it here?

Also, if you are traveling on the same day, please let me know. I don't mind tailgating you.

thanks!
Mohandas

I took the same road on my way to Goa from Hyderabad around a month back.

My route was: Hyd-Mohol-Pandharpur-Satara-Mahabaleswar(2 days)-Satara-Kolhapur-Sankeswar-Gadhinglaj-Ajra-Amboli-Sawantwadi-Goa

Hyderabad-Mohol: Good
Mohol-Satara: Above Average (good countryside drive)
Satara-Sankeswar: Very Good
Sankeswar-Sawantwadi: Average (good drive though)
Sawantwadi-Goa: Above Average

Feel free to ping me if you need more details.

Thank you.

Even I am planning for Hyd - Goa - Hyd trip this monthend.

Freezed on the below route both ways- Thanks to Avi
Hyderabad-Sholapur-Pandharpur-Sangola-Miraj-Sangli-Jaysingpur-kolhapur-Sankeshwar-Gandhiglaj-Ajra-Amboli-sawantwadi-Panjim.

Before leaving wanted to check on this particular strech Sholapur-Pandharpur-Sangola-Miraj-Sangli-Jaysingpur-kolhapur.

prabingade - How is the route between Pandharpur-Satara, heard that its a very lonley route. Also kept open an option of touching Mahabaleswar while returning back.

Thanks.

The Pandharpur to Satara route road condition is ok. It scenic(like driving on countryside without much traffic and passing through villages on a narrow road). I very much enjoyed it.

Hello everyone, honestly all the info / experiences shared in this forum is great, well now even I have come to seek help from all you experienced travellers... I'll be getting married next month and planning to drive to Goa from hyderabad during the first week of December for my Honeymoon , I have Esteem VXI . Kindly help me out with the best route possible in terms of the road conditions. Being an adventorous enthusiast i really want to try this Amboli Ghat route, but seems the experience of most of you is not that great so do let me know the chances and of course the weather conditions. Any kind of info is welcome ...Actually i belong to Delhi and have moved to hyderabad recently so not detailed about the routes in south of India help me guys in making this Honeymoon trip memorable :-p
