Query - Pune to Sangameshwar?

Hi,

I am going from Pune to Sangameshwar (a small town/village after chiplun, before Ratnagiri) Can someone point out the best route - road condition wise (I don't mind taking driving few extra KMs if the road is better than alternate option)

Best route is to go via Satara, Umbraj (on NH4) and Koyna to Chiplun (State highway) and from there on NH17 to Sangameshwar.

Are there any clear sign boards on NH4 after Satara/Umbraj to take a route to Koyna -> Chiplun? and I guess, at chiplun its just left on NH17.

umbraj is @35 km from satara on nh4 while going toward kolhapur.
as umbraj approaches, there is overbridge at umbraj.
you should not cross this bridge.
you turn right toward malharpet/patan under the bridge.
road from umbraj to malharpet is one of the best twoway road in maharashtra.

route is

pune-nh4-satara-umbraj-turn right toward malharpet/patan under the bridge at umbraj-malharpet-turn right toward patan-patan-keep on chiplun road at koyna tollgate[ no need to enter koynanagar]-helwak-kumbharli ghat-pophali-chiplun-turn left toward goa on nh17 at chiplun chowk-savarde-sangameshwar.

at the start of kumbharli ghat, there is one nice hotel for lunch/breakfast. do stop at this place. valley view from this spot is nice. hotel is right behind police check post at the start of descent in kumbharli ghat.

after chiplun and little before savarde, look out for the board directing to valavalkar hospital. road leading to that hospital leads to derwan. at derwan, there is nice sculpture about life of shivaji. the place is named shivsrushti. do visit this place. though this is 4 km detour from main road,it is worth, you and your family will definitely enjoy it.
