Which ideal place from Mumbai within 500kms in March - May season?

Hi,

As we seen this year has witness quite long weekends every other month or so..

This month also the same for eg Good Friday with Sat n Sun also 1st May etc.

However since its a summer season, we tend to prefer visiting cold places atleast not somewhere we want to experience scorching heat burns with family around.

So my question to all, what is the ideal place from Mumbai within 500kms for long weekend trips like 3-4 days in the period of March - May?

Advises from friends have not recommended beach sides as i was planning to do a konkan trip with my 1year kid!

This thread should help everyone who is looking to make a trip in hot seasons but confused where to go!

Thanks and cheers~

Hi Rudrah,

should i recommend Amboli?

On serious note,
within 500 km distance from Mumbai,
there is not much choice other than Amboli, Panhala, Mahabaleshwar, Panchgani, Matheran, Saputara.
You may consider Chikhaldara and Dajipur also.
Each hillstation has pros and cons.
Best among those will be Mahabaleshwar only.
If you opt for train travel, then mount abu can be considered.

Hey Rudrah,

I am also searching on a similar destination. People in Delhi are so lucky. They can head for hills so easily. Mumbai is in one corner. I have a thread on similar lines. You and Ashish posted on it today. Why did you start another thread? I will have to track two now. Have gone thru the travel querries section. Not much available. Gir is a stretch at 785 km. Any sanctuaries around?

Hey Dushmish,

If you read the thread title, its a generic thread for all who opts for "Summer season" trips from Mumbai.

I was gonna post the same question in your thread however that would had gone off topic from your thread hence had to start a generic Topic.

I thought its a good idea for both us at the moment and others who are searching for destinations in such times nearby Mumbai!

No personal intentions!

Cheers~

PANHALA:
It is fort cum hillstation 20 km away from kolhapur toward Ratnagiri.
It is @425 km away from mumbai and is 3000feet above msl.
Fort itself is full fledged town with all amenities for tourist.
One day will be ideal for this location.
Mtdc has small resort here although more private hotels are mushroomed.

DAJIPUR;

It is bison sanctuary situated between Radhanagari and Fonda ghat in kolhapur district.
This is the destination for those who are adventurous enough to hop into forest.
Mtdc has small resort here.
It is @500 km away from mumbai.
I will recommend it only for young enthusiastic people.
No other facilities are available here.

Ashish thank you for your reply. From your post it appears that both Panhala and Dajipur are around Kolhapur. Would it be a good idea to club both these locations along with Kolhapur for a 3-4 days trip.

i will recommend----
pawankhind-panhala-kolhapur-dajipur at single go.
remember, dajipur will not be ideal for kids of age less than 6 years.

@abhijitaparadh---Evergreen destination : Goa
Agreed it will be hot, but March to May is also the peak season for fish and all other seafood.
In summer, if you are heading to Goa, where will you go in winter ?
Goa is evergreen but will be more fun during nov/dec/jan.
