Kolkata - Jabalpur : Route Queries

Come September - During Durga Puja Holidays , I am planning
to Drive till Jabalpur but confused which route to take ,
Whether NH2 - Varanasi - NH7-Mirzapur - Rewa - Jabalpur
or NH 6 - Samabalpr - Raipur - Nagpur - Jabalpur ,
or any other alternate route? Keeping in Mind that I will
be driving with my family and will be avoiding night driving.

Best option is NH-2 from Kolkata then from Mirzapur take Mirzapur - Rewa - Jabalpur road. You are sure to get very good road almost till Mirzapur on NH-2 and therafter its hardly any distance.Since there has not been much rain this year Mirzapur - Rewa - Jabalpur stretch will also be in good shape.

One of our Calcutta members came back from Raipur recently. You could talk to him perhaps and get info till that section. If I remember correctly his handle here is wimwian.
I can safely say that upto Chunar will be an excellent road since I have been there last year. After this presumably it will be a good road.

Report from someone who drove on the Nagpur-Jabalpur-Rewa-Varanasi route is that road is in good condition but for a few patchy sections near Rewa and MIrzapur.

NH6 route is suprisingly better in the Orissa stretches, although there is deterioration in the Chattisgarh sections.

+1 to that. Take the Varanasi-MZP-RWA_JBP road. I am from the area and know this road pretty well. You will find bad stretches between Mirzapur and Rewa but they are manageable. I would not recommend CG roads.

re: Kolkata - Jabalpur : Route Queries

Reviving a very old thread!

I plan on doing BLR-JBP-CCU-BLR in December, with my wife and 4yr old kid.

Can someone please help with the status of the Road from JBP_RWA to Varanasi and thereon to CCU?

Jabalpur to Rewa road is in decent condition but Rewa-Varanasi stretch continues to be bad. The other alternate is Rewa-Allahabad-Varanasi, although roads are not in that great shape but still in better condition.
