Hi Guys,

Travelling from NY to Bangalore on Jet, there is a 2 hour layover at Brussels Airport, I would like to know if we need a transist visa, I hope we won't, because we won't be claiming baggage. Any direction would be deeply appreciated.

No you wont need , as long as you hold some valid US Visa / Green Card or anything similar , you must be in Jet Airways , Brussels Airport at your time of arrival will be similar to Delhi / Banglore - mostly Indian's - they have couple of flights coming from US & Canada at almost same times ..

Thanks for quick info, I have b1/b2 us visa and Indian passport. I was wondering if we should deplane and board a different plane or is it like we should sit inside the plane for the length of the layover. Thanks.

Short Transit time @ CCU on DIB BLR 6E. Challenges any ?

Hi,

Have booked flight on 6E from DIB to BLR at goindigo.com

Indigo gives me only one combination of the flight

6E - 202 : DIB Departure 11:15, CCU Arrival 12 : 55

6E - 434 : CCU Departure 1400, BLR Arrival 1630 hours

Now, as you can see, layover in CCU is only 1 hr 5 mins.

Will it be possible to change the flights within the said time ? Need your guidance, since family is travelling for the first time.

Talking to the customer care at goindigo, they said that we could get boarding passes for both the flights at DIB and the luggage will be through checked till BLR. According to Customer care, after deboarding at CCU, there will be a transit area from where we could go to 6E 434 without the security check.

I am concerned if my old parents will be able to make this out and catch the next flight.

Any CCU members who might shed the layout of the arrival and departure at CCU ?

Any guidance might be of great help in here.

Other members have already added their valuable inputs, so nothing much to add here, except the new airport layout

When they arrive at CCU, it will be on the first floor via the aerobridge, and then people walk right (there are walkalators) and then turn left, take the stairs down to the luggage belts at the ground floor (and exit from the ground floor). The departures are on the first floor (via other end of the ground floor).

So ask them not to go towards the belts on the ground floor. It is best that they ask for help from the Indigo/AAI staff at the aerobridge itself (or immediately before turning left at stairs on the first floor). They will coordinate and put them on the electric cart at the ground floor that will take them straight to departures. If they try to walk, it *will* take a long time.

Also a web checkin could save some time. Indigo are quite efficient so they should do just fine.

Even if you have to change flights, you will not need a transit visa. Just follow the transfer signs and don't go through immigration at Brussels.

Everyone has to deplane , it might be same or a different plane . There is a nice Jet Airways lounge for quick showers in case you are in Premier class , few options for having quick food & shopping around gates as well , overall very small airport ( area in which Jet operates )

Hello guys,

I have a connecting flight from Amsterdam Schiphol airport.

Would be spending nearly 5 hours in the airport for my onwards flight to Delhi.

Is there any restaurants (pocket friendly) in the airport?

Are their any resting couches or something (other than the expensive lounges ofcourse).

Any tips in general - for spending time at this huge airport?

Coincidentally I just used Schipol yesterday.

There seemed to be enough eating places all over, though the airport seems to be going through some renovation. There was a casino too (don't know if that interests you) which may have shut down since I didn't see it this time. I've heard they have a open air viewing gallery, which will be nice to spot planes.

Wifi is free all over the airport.

Does anyone have experience transferring to the TGV train at De Gaulle airport in Paris? I have a connection from CDG airport to Lyon by TGV in a couple of weeks time, and it would be useful to know if there are some things I need to keep in mind. Also, how much time does it take, is it harder with luggage, etc. We will be landing at terminal 2E and connection time is just over 1.5 hours.

You should be able to make it. i trust you have your TGV tickets already.
The TGV station is below terminal 2. Very convenient.

Thanks for the tip. The train reservation is done but I have to pick up the ticket at the kiosk or counter at the airport. Will try and see if I can get it done online beforehand. I just hope immigration and baggage does not take too long.

Ok, I am worried. Quite worried. So many bad reviews of Spirit Airlines :Shockked:

But it is the cheapest airlines in the US and I am travelling from Atlanta - Dallas - Vegas - Atlanta in May.

Is it really that bad? I actually don't expect it to be all that bad - considering the price. Anyone travelled in it? How many hours?

I have a very long halt at Abu Dhabi airport (10hrs). Will have Lounge access since flying Business Class. Any suggestions / reviews on this airport?
Has anybody used the US Immigration facility at this Airport?

Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thank you,
AJ

Generally, doesn't inspire confidence. :-)

You have my sympathies. :D Of all the airports in all of the cities across the entire world, you had to choose Abu Dhabi?

One word of advice: see if you can get a visa and get out of the airport. And don't even think about the business class lounge. It reminded me of the dungeon like restaurants that you would see in 1970s Hindi films, frequented by the villains.

Binand / Rev Gear - Thanks for your feedback.
Oh dear!!! What have I let myself in for!
Guess, will try for a transit visa & do some sightseeing AD.
Regards,
AJ
