Did this last weekend - Chennai-Trichy-Dindigul-Kodaikanal-Madurai-Trichy-Chennai

Hi All,

We had a nice road trip last weekend.

Route - Chennai-Trichy-Dindigul-Kodaikanal-Madurai-Trichy-Chennai.

The trip log will be posted in travelogue, i just want to post here that route from Chennai to Trichy on NH45 is complete, its a superb 4 lane road all the way through. There are 3 Tolls and one is getting added near to Trichy.

Once you reach Trichy bypass, bridge construction and road widening is at heavy pace and crossing this 3-4 KM stretch will take 30 mins.

From Trichy to Dindigul - Road widening work is progress and rest of the road is not at all good.

From Dindigul bypass to Vatlagundu to Kodai - road is pretty.

On return we took the straight road from Vatlagundu to Madurai- this road is superb and scenic. Madurai to Melur is god but time consuming.

Once you are back on 4 lane road from Melur, its superb and straight to Trichy, cross bypass and all the way to Chennai is a breeze.

Keep revvin.

Trichy - Chennai

I too did the Trichy - Chennai route recently during the recent rains when it poured cats and dogs in Chennai. With fairly good rains all along, we were still able to do Trichy - Chennai in 5 hrs flat which included a 45 minute food break and a 15 minute tea break.

It is urgent to travel to Dindigul and Madurai and back at the earliest by car. Since day before yesterday I am ready to move. It seems the rain has no mood to stop. As there are no posting about the road conditions recently, bit worried to make this trip. If any one travelled with in last four or five days in the rain please throw light on the road conditions.
