An un-planned trip to Goa has come-up for this Christmas, I've got hold of the tickets along with a couple of my friends but just cant seem to find a cheap/decent place to put-up.

so here's the equation:

2 nights / 3 guys / jam-packed Goa / no rooms

So, now there is no looking back, we'll be at Goa but without roof!

What options do we have?
..sleeping over at the beach?

and just yesterday I heard a debate on TV against calling Goa a hedonistic paradise...

I heard the shacks are not doing good business this year, you could check them out.

@monaro - You will always find places to stay in Goa, even in peak season. Just be prepared to pay top money for it.

Here's what we used to do. Just take off for any beach, even if it was Pallolem (75 kms from our hostel in Goa). Find out the biggest store near the beach (note, not shack, STORE). Tell the owner you wanted rooms for x no of people.

The guy will invariably say no. "No rooms man". Keep pleading, tell him you're a bunch of good guys, dont dope etc etc. Ultimately he'll say "I have rooms, but they'll cost you (say) 2000 bucks a night".

From this point, all you can do is bargain. The best he'll reduce is 100-200. For this price, he'll give you a small, dark room with a bed, a matress, and a (separate) bathroom.

But guess what? Having sampled the best of Goa for most of the night, you wont even bother to check out the room when you come back and hit the bed .

So have fun!
