Bangalore to Krishnagiri - is NH7 broken?

Hi BHPians,

I plan to travel to Krishnagiri from Whitefield, Bangalore tomorrow. I am planning to take this route -

Whitefield -> ORR -> Silk-Board -> E-City -> Hosur -> Shoolagiri -> Krishnagiri.

Is there a better/scenic route than this? I want to enjoy the drive too.

Also, is the NH7 broken between Hosur and Shoolagiri and between Shoolagiri and Krishnagiri? Google maps is showing so and suggesting to take SH17 from Hosur and some other road from Shoolagiri to join NH7 back.

Bangalore to Krishnagiri - is NH7 broken?-bangalorekrishnagiri.png

Please confirm.

NH 7 is fine. No breaks/blocks between Hosur and Krishnagiri.

I did Krishnagiri a week ago, no breaks in between. Smooth driving.

Remember to take the new elevated expressway after Silkboard - will save you some time and traffic.

Google maps

This is a drawback of Google maps. It shows a break in most roads, not only NH7. Even for straight forward roads, it shows roundabout routes.

For a more scenic drive you can try the Whitefield -> Varthur -> Sarjaur -> Baglur -> Hosur route.

Thanks everyone for confirmation. My visit is postponed to next week.

BTW, what's wrong with Google Maps? Anyone?

Hi Gandhi,

I drive along this route every week end. I drove down to my home town on 29th Jan 2010 and the route is absolutely fine.

If you driving from whitefield then you can take the Sarjapur road to connect to Attibele. The route from Whitefield would be:

Whitefield -> Sarjapur -> Attibele -> Hosur -> Krishnagiri

From Whitefield it shouldnt take you more than 45 mins to reach Karnataka border. Driving eases once you cross Hosur.

If you want to avoid NH7 then you can try Palakodu route from Hosur. That should be very scenic route.

Google map is not always accurate - I think it takes time to update their satellite imagery.

As another example - the NICE rd stretch till Tumkur Rd was not showing up although the road was open - it's only recently that it's been updated.

I just got back from Yelagiri. I can confirm that the road is open and no problems whatsoever.
