Mumbai - Nashik Road condition and Safety!!

A friend of mine is travelling to Nasik from mumbai with his wife to attend a wedding. Want to know the current condition of the Mumbai - Nasik highway. How good is the road ?

Also want to know if the route is safe because they will be dressed for the wedding and travelling with lot of jewellery on them.

They are planning to leave mumbai around 11:00 AM to attend the wedding around 3PM-4PM. Return journey would be early morning next day.

The current Road conditions are good with very few diversions on the NH-3 as 4-laning work in still in progress. The Ghats are one way and easy to negotiate. I do Thane - Nashik City ion less than 3 hours; driving at comfortable speeds.

Well the Mumbai - Nashik Road is as safe as any other National Highway in Maharashtra. I travel frequently between Mumbai and Nashik and have not come across any instance of Day time Highway Robbery/ dacoity in last few years. However, Would advise your not to attract attention by flashing jewellery & wedding finery and stop at decent places for Food & Loo.

Drive Safe & wear seat belts !!

Just been on that road. Road from Bombay is mostly now a 4-laner. There are some patches where work is still in progress. But almost 100kms out of Nasik, you'd get almost a continous four-laner. Total distance from Bombay to Nasik is around 180kms.

The Kasara Ghats have become one way now. But beware those maxi cabs do come down the wrong way. Doable without stops in less than 3hrs.

Bhagat Tarachand is a good place to stop for a break and refreshments. Also there is a CCD outlet at one of the HP pumps coming on the left hand side when going towards Nasik.

It is relatively safe, but like mentioned before...jewellery flashing if kept to a minimum will serve you good. Traffic safety is different though. Exercise utmost caution while overtaking especially if you aren't used to driving on the highway.
