delhi trip. Renting cars!!

Hi people,

This forum has been so much of an inspiration and guidance that i just hope that the trip i am planning is going to work out.

ok here is the thing. we reach delhi on 28th june late night by flight from bangalore.

We are planning on renting a car in delhi and driving to manali, leh etc. Constraints are that we have to be back in delhi on 7th or maximum 8th of july.

1) can you all please help me out with a route where we can go to manali first reach leh and come back via a different route so we can get to see more places.

2) can you please tell me where i can rent cars in delhi and how much it will cost etc?

3) accomodation that we can find on the way.
4) permits required?

please give me ur suggestions. I really want to make this trip work.

I have read a travelouge of a Leh trip few months back and in that they have mentioned about getting a self drive vehicle and going from Delhi. Tried once to locate the thread in vain. Will try once more once time permits, you too try once if possible. Guess the author was Reejocjohn or so IIRC.
