Looking for a good hotel to stay in madurai during first week of September for 3-4 days. priority is clean room + clean western rest room. not particular about other comforts like AC or in-house RESTAURANT kind of stuff . Essentially clean .Fair pricing.

Is parking a requirement? There are many good places, but without parking.

You could look at Supreme or Ratna Regency near the railway station. Both cost about 1200 for a single A/c room. Parking could be an issue though but manageble.

College House, Supreme, Park etc. Most of the good hotels are in "West Perumal Maistry stree" in Madurai. Parking shouldn't be an issue in these hotels.

Just sent you a PM. Same as what others said. Supreme and Park. But parking was OK for me then, as I was on a cab.

Looking at your criteria especially regarding the western rest room.

The Gateway Pasumalai the location is on top of a hill a little distance (3km) out of town.
Fortune Pandiyan &
GRT Regency

Then go to College house. My father has been one of the patrons of college house for over 30 years!

College House is a good option and parking should not be an issue. Plus you stay right in the heart of the town. If you seek a more relaxed and calm stay, the Gateway Hotel at Pasumalai, Fortune Pandiyan Hotel and Heritance Hotel are also great options.

Please not college house. Its gone bad to worse. I've also been its patron for a long time. But its fallen into bad management. The tiffin is good there, other than that its not worth it. The car parking gets full and cars are double parked. The good thing is it has an entry exit on two sides so its easier. I've stayed AC and non AC and unless they've cleaned up their act in the last year or so, I'm not very sure of it.

I stayed in Prem Nivas. Decent place. We stayed non AC and it was neat. However the toilet was Indian. I'm not sure of the toilets for the AC rooms. You can phone and enquire.

If you have a higher budget, choose Supreme which is very well maintained or Park Plaza.

If your budget is still higher (3k plus) then you can try Royal Court which is just opposite to the railway station on the left side.

Away from this area there are other options. Towards Azhagar Koil you have Hotel Pandiyan and Madurai Ashok. Should be around 2.5k
