Navi Mumbai-Jaipur-Udaipur and return travel

Hello,

This is Manish Raje from Panvel. First of thanks to Rudrah for allowing me to post from his account. I am planning a family tour to Rajasthan on 8th Nov-13th Nov.

Route planned would be as follows -

1. Leave Navi Mumbai at about 12 after a meeting in office. Reach Ahmadabad by night. Stay (8th Night).
2. Start early morning from Ahmadabad @ 6AM. Cross Udaipur, take Chittaurgarh route, any suggestions for food stops here? Then via Kisangarh- Jaipur by night. Stay (9th Night).
3. Jaipur city visit. (10th Night)
4. Leave early morning @ 5 AM for Ajmer. Visit Durgah, then over to Pushkar, visit Temple here. Around @10-11AM leave for Udaipur. Any suggestion for food stop on the way? On the way Nathdwara temple. Assuming an hour-half in temple. Should reach Udaipur around 5PM-6PM. Stay. (11th Night)
5. Udaipur city visit. (12th Night)
6. Leave early morning @4 AM. Udaipur-Ahmadabad-Vadodara-Virar-Home. Would like to take as many Bypass as possible on the return journey. Suggestions? Is it possible to make home by 13th night, as there is a function to attend on Sunday 14th?

Any suggestions for stay in Jaipur and Udaipur would also be a great help as this is going to be a real quick turnaround for me.

If the planning timings are not right or not possible in current scenario, please help me correct those.

Please check this route plan, in my log book:

http://hvkumar.googlegroups.com/web/...+Trip+2004.xls

Ajmer-Nathdwara NH8 is 2-laned, truck traffic is heavy and facilities are poor.

Please note route plan to bypass Ahmedabad on the Sardar Patel Ring Road (and do not take the A'bad bypass, take only the Ring Road).

Reaching Bombay from Udaipur the same day is easy.

Thanks HVKumar sir, It will be very helpful to use a log book.

As you suggested, would it be advisable to do a Jaipur-Ajmer-Chittaurgarh-Udaipur on the return too? And come back to Udaipur early and do a city sight seeing, later next day try cover Nathdwara? I also heard it would be really crowded during this season. If that is the case, would love to do some other nice place.

Also found a thread about accommodation and rates..

For Udaipur stay, I found 4 hotels -
1. Hotel Vishnupriya,
2. Jaiwana Haveli,
3. Hotel Mahendra Prakash
4. Mewar Haveli

Enquired Mountain Ridge (But unfortunately booking not available)

Hotel Paras Mahal is too costly - 5000/- Rs. per night + 1000/-Rs for each kid.

Any other suggestions?

What comes on the priority is cleanliness and not-a-bad service.

Does not make sense to come via Chittorgarh since Nathdwara is on the Ajmer-Udaipur road and in case you are planning the same day, better to come on NH8. If you plan to go the next day, yes, it is better to go from Ajmer to Nasirabad (NH79) and come via Chittorgarh to Udaipur.

Udaipur - RTDC Hotel Kajri.

Only Hotel Vishnupriya is available. Others are already sold out. Most likely book there.

Any suggestions for outskirts resorts / hotels? Or I need to change the plan?

For Jaipur, got a quote from Om Niwas. Suggestions for any other places to stay?

Hotel Vishnupriya has a package for 8888/- per 2N-3D sent the email to them. Rupi's resort is pack in those days.

Also, checking with Devra resorts.

Jaipur update -
Om Niwas is mostly confirmed.

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/travel...via-delhi.html This might be helpful

Also I have stayed both in Mewar Haveli and Jaiwana Haveli. They are located opposite each other. Jaiwan is a bit better. Mewar is more popular with tourists. These should be approximately 1500 rupees. Remember - these are located in the lal ghat area where taking your car is quite a herculean task. So if you need your car to be in front of you, these places are not for you.

However the travelogue above has a hotel mentioned. I thought it was very nice. Try them

What time would it take to see Ahmadabad-Chittaurgarh & Chittaurgarh-Jaipur? There is a small idea creeping about seeing Chittaurgarh fort. Also planning to leave Ahmadabad an hour early @4:30 AM.

If I want to quickly bypass Udaipur city, any suggestions? Any good food stops at Udaipur?

Or would be able to make to Chittor by 10 AM for food stop?

Arya Niwas, Jai Niwas, Tara Niwas and Om Niwas are all run by the same family.

As far as I know Om Niwas is basically service apartments with attached kitchenette. Hope you are ok staying in a service apartment.

The rest are all budget hotels and are very well run.

Regards

Ahmedabad - Himmatnagar 1 hour. Hotel Landmark on the highway has an eatery that is almost a 24 hour joint. Toilets available behind the eatery inside the hotel car park. Walk in through the driveway the watchman will guide you.
Infact it is better to stay here than in Ahmedabad. Easier to get off and on the highway, 1 second versus 1 hour for Ahmedabad city.

Himmatnagar -Ratanpur Border 1 hour Plenty of fuel pumps and couple of eatries here for Breakfast.

Ratanpur Border - Udaipur By pass 1hour 40 minutes NO eatries available unless you enter the city.

Udaipur By pass - Chittaur Bypass 1 hour and 30 minutes

Chittaur Bypass - Bhilwara 15 minutes. BPCL COCO with attached apna ghar. Neat clean & cleanest toilets on the entire highway.

BPCL COCO Bhilwara - BPCL COCO Dudu 2 hours another apna ghar here.

BPCL Dudu - Jaipur is 40 kms.

Chittaurgarh is roughly 10-15 minutes drive from the NH. The fort has a light and sound show at dusk on all evenings but one, provided minimum 10 tickets are sold. Contact the RTDC hotel in Chittaur for exact details and tickets. Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation Ltd.(Rajasthan Government Undertaking)
