Hyderabad-Salem:Diversion Landmark?

Intend to drive Hyd-Salem in a day.

Could anybody share the exact landmark/deviation point on NH7(Hyd side) from where the turn towards Hosur is to be taken.(Hosakote-Hosur).Time taken as well as distance from NH7 to NH7.

OR

Is it better to go via Bangalore and then onto Hosur considering road conditions.

Re: Hyderabad-Salem:Diversion Landmark?

13 kms from the end of Chickballapur bypass (south side) is the turn off into DEvanahalli town, where you connect with NH207 and go to Hoskote/Whitefield/Bagalur/Hosur.

I drove on that route till Whitefield last month and the road was not that good. Sees a lot of truck traffic.

Instead of going all the way to Bagalur, maybe it is a better idea to go via Devanahalli-Hoskote-Whitefield-Varthur-Sarjapura-Attibele-Hosur.

Re: Hyderabad-Salem:Diversion Landmark?

The other route is what HVK did before. No Hoskote and no 207. Take the BIAL route from Devanahalli, which would touch NH4 somewhere between Hoskote and KR Puram. Take left (towards Hoskote) and go below the next fly-over and take right. You would hit SH35 (also called Varthur). Keep going straight no diversions. (You will also see Varthur lake to your right).

You hit the Sarjapur road T-Junction at Domsandra. Take left, head to Sarjapur and then to Attibelle (Take right when you hit Sarjapur). Dont go into the town.

Don't even think of ORR in that region. All kinds of fly over construction in that region in full swing. After driving 8 hours on a nice 4L, you would be frustrated.

Its better to do either NH207 or SH35 (varthur road).

ranjitp1 if the whitefeild and Varthur route is confusing you can as well go through the city as you are travelling beyond 11pm into the city.Still the best bet would be go into the Devanahalli town and take the road to Hoskote after about 5kms you will get a T junction with blinking amber light. You have to take a right turn this road goes via Budigere and reaches the Banglore - Hoskote road from there you can follow what ampere has suggested.I have travelled couple of times during the midnight it is totally devoid of traffic.

Thanx Amp,I just pm-ed Asdon asking for directions and current status. If it gets too confusing,I think I might end up driving through the city and getting onto the BETL and going via Hosur-Elecns city.

Re: Hyderabad-Salem:Diversion Landmark?

Ok I took the Devanahalli Left turn-Vijayanagar-Right Turn-Kolar Road-Right Turn-Hosakote-Under the flyover-Malur Road-Right Turn at Malur-Hosur.

Devanahalli-Vijayanagar: 10kms
V'nagar-H'kote:25kms
H'kote-Malur: 15kms
Malur-Hosur: 20kms

Total 65kms

But the road between Malur and Hosur is pathetic for a stretch of around 3kms-read that as no road.Even otherwise the ride is pretty bumpy and lots of local auto and bike traffic.Took me 2hours to reach Hosur.I dont think this would be a reccomended option.Should try the Whitefield option next time.Thanx Amp/HVK/Gajadonga for the suggestions.

Yes, this road appears to be perpetually in bad shape. On 2 previous occasions, I have preferred the route via Devanahalli, Whitefield, Varthur & Sarjapura to Attibele instead of the one which you took. Takes some 30 minutes less, and crosses some city traffic sections, but at least the roads are better.

Re: Hyderabad-Salem:Diversion Landmark?

I used to take this to Bypass Banglore.
I used to get caught at the Whitefeld railway crossing at the Saibaba ashram but now the flyover is complete so no hassle.
The next bottle neck was Ambedkar nagar.
I used to take a break at Forum mall for some food and good toilets.
The distance wise as ranjitp1 has mentioned is almost the same but you can be faster via Sarjapur and Attibele by about 30mins. In the nights it saves close an hour.

Re: Hyderabad-Salem:Diversion Landmark?

Ranjit, I think that quite a roundabout. The Malur stretch is horrrible for about 2-3Km (between Malur and Bagalur). This is the by-pass route which I use to goto Tirupathi. (There is a route from Malur which takes you to Kolar and that is a fantastic route).

In fact from Hoskote, you could have also taken NH207 which would land you directly at Baglur, by-passing even Malur!

But looks like in the first place you missed the BIAL turn at Devanahalli or is it that you wanted to do the other route.

(See as I mentioned earlier, this is where a GPS tracklog really helps!)

Re: Hyderabad-Salem:Diversion Landmark?

Bumping up this old thread for latest updates on bypassing Bangalore.

I might be doing a trip to Cochin next month from Hyderabad. Assuming I reach Devanahalli around 1 to 2 pm, would it be wise to take the detour mentioned above, or instead go via Bangalore City? Is the distance to Hosur the same via either option?

In either case, detailed landmarks and latest road updatses would be of great help. I assume the flyover on the detour would have been completed by now.

Thanks in advance.
