Hello, Im travelling to Thanjavur next week. I need to know which road to take after Munnar. Should i take Munnar - Theni - Dindigul, Trichy -Thanjavur or Munnar - Theni -Madurai - Thanjavur ?

Whats the road condition and how long is the journey between Theni - Thanjavur

The shortest route from Munnar is via Dindigul (Old NH45). But conversion is going on. So expect some diversions.
(You can do Dindigul-Trichy in about 2 hours)

take option # 1 => Munnar - Bodi (65kms)- Theni(15kms) - Dindigul(78kms) - Trichy(90kms) - Thanjavur(55kms).

Theni to Dindigul road is okay except some stretches between sembatti and dindigul which was damaged during the recent rain.

option # 2 => Munnar - Theni - Madurai - Melur - Pudukkottai - Thanjavur will be taking long time than option # 1 as you will be going inside all towns and roads are normal SH.

i did munnar-trichy just a week back...

the roads till bodimedu are not in perfect shape.. a few rough patches... after bodimedu till dindigul the road is nice barring one or two potholes in a few towns.. from dindigul till trichy roads are mostly 4L barring a few towns were underpass/over-bridge is in construction. so diversions are found there... from trichy-tanjore the road is again 4L.

so this munnar-bodi-theni-dindigul-trichy-tanjore would still be the best option!!
