Traveled earlier in the week. Hyd-Kurnool-Kadapa-Tirupati.

Hyd-Kurnool : 200 kms, Blr highway, other than some painful diversions due to flyover work going on in Kurnool town, was all good as expected

Kurnool-Kadapa : 200 kms, Good 4-laned highway continues, some road repair work going on, where the road has been converted (by using traffic cones) into single lane, either side. Painful when behind a slow moving vehicle

Kadapa-Tirupati : 2-laned, decent surface. No real impact of floods/ rains on the roads, other than some large lakes that were almost threatening to spill over on the roads, if there was a lot more additional rain.

There is a haritha resort and restaurant (called Rock Garden) at Orvakal which made for a nice pit stop - decent hygiene & food - by Haritha standards

About 530 kms Hyd-Tirupati town. Took about 7.5 hours of driving time

Hello folks. Any idea how is the route now between Hyd and Tirupati?

GMaps shows Hyd -> Kurnool -> Nandyala -> Kadapa -> Rajampet -> Tirupati as the best route. Any other route that I should consider?

Thanks in advance!

The route shown by GMaps is good. I regularly travel on this route and last traveled on april 30th from Tirupati to Hyd. Hyd Kurnool Kadapa is 4 laned. Kurnool has a couple of flyovers under construction. Kurnool Kadapa is a breeze. Kadapa - Rajampeta - Kodur - Tirupati is a wide 2 lane road and should take you 2.30 to 3 hours.

While going, the route I took was Hyd - Narketpally - Addanki - Piduguralla - Ongole - Nellore - Naidupet - Sri Kalahasti - Tirupati route. This route is 4 laned from Hyd to Naidupeta with Medarmetle to Nellore 6 laned. The last 70 km to Tirupati is 2 laned with 4 laning in progress.

Naidupeta to Tirupati? Or are you talking about Kadapa-Renigunta?

If its Naidupeta-Tirupati, how bad are the diversions? We'd be returning late night, so want to know how manageable are these diversions.

The work is on Naidupeta Tirupati route. It is not too bad and was easily manageable in April. I was driving around 8.30 pm

Hello. Wanted to check how the road is from Hyderabad to Badvel via Kurnool. From above posts I'm getting a sense that the roads are all pretty good.

How are the roads now during heavy monsoons?

Anything particularly enjoyable along the route? Does the stretch through Nandhyal make for a pleasurable drive given the forest area?

Any big speed breakers or bad patches to be mindful of, for a low slung sedan?

And lastly, any good pit stops for some nice food?

Thanks!

The best road from Hyderabad to Badvel is via Kurnool-Nandyala-Mydukur ( Turn left @ Mydukur) - Badvel . All stretches are beautifully laid, particularly the last stretch from Mydukur to Badvel has lot of windmills across. ( Kurnool-Nandyala-Mydukur is not a drive through forest area). Options for food are limited after crossing Kurnool.

If the route of Forests from Nandyala you are talking about is turning left towards Giddalur ( Guntur-Ananthapuram Highway) at Nandyala and turn right after Giddalur at Thaticherla towards Porumamilla and Badvel, you will get to cross Giddalur Forest Range and Nallamala Ghats, which is a picturesque drive. But it is a longer road and the road has got bad patches from Giddalur to Porumamilla-Badvel stretch. Unless you want to try out a new route, I would not suggest this route as pit stops for food are also few.

Hello Bhpians,

Me and the family are going on a road trip from Arvapally to Tirupati via Miriyalaguda - Piduguralla - Addanki - Ongole route.

Did anyone venture across this route recently, given the recent rains and all.

Wanted to know if this route is OK or need to plan another route.

Thanks,

What rains? Only Anantapur got deluged. Otherwise rains are happening around Vizag.

Except Pidugurrala town, which is a pain as always, rest are fine.

Tried the Rajampeta and Mydukur-Nellore route over the weekend.

Rest Stops

Hi everyone,
I will be travelling to Kadapa from Hyderabad next weekend. I am planning to start by 6am in morning. Can anyone suggest me good restaurant for breakfast. I can not opt for road side eateries as I will be travelling with my sister so need a place with clean restrooms. The popular option i found through different threads is Food Pyramid but I would reach that place too early in the morning. Any place around Kurnool preferably?

On Kurnool bypass you have Hangout, Kritunga on Kurnool bypass or H8 near Oravakallu.

After H8, other options will be dhaba like.

Hotel Suraj Grand is decent. https://maps.app.goo.gl/hcuNYktA61ViuBN77. You can park your vehicle in the cellar and the rest rooms are connected by a lift. They are neat. Food is comparable to Food Pyramid. You will have to take a service road instead of the flyover. So, you will hardly lose time. Restaurant and hotel are neighboring buildings.

Next option is Hotel DR Indraaprasthaa in Nandyal. https://goo.gl/maps/DyQKcy1Fr6kjGnK68. You will lose more than 30 minutes since you have to go into the town, but if you have time. This hotel is pretty good.

A 6 am start means you will reach Food Pyramid around 8 8.30.
The other options for breakfast are Hangout on the Kurnool bypass as suggested by narayans80 or the small restaurants immediately after Pullur toll plaza.

I am assuming the recently announced Surat-Chennai expressway will greatly benefit Hyd-Tirupati. It will definitely have the Kadappa-Tirupati as a part. I am hoping it would be the current section of Kuddapa-Rajampet-Renigunta, where it should cut through the Chittoor-Tirpuati-Naidupeta 10-lane.

Deadline is Dec-2025. Lets see!

All times are GMT +5.5. The time now is 11:00.
