Started from Bangalore at 5 AM and reached Mysore now at 7. Things seem to be back to normal everywhere and of course, traffic is going to be more horrendous than normal too. Mandya seemed calm and there weren't any protests anywhere.

Thanks to an early start, I covered distance quick. It will be a painful drive for people starting post 6.

Slightly off topic , just landed in Bangalore and am sitting in a KSRTC Volvo bus to Mysore. Guess the services are skeletal at best. Had to wait for 90 mins to board the bus at the Satellite bus stand. Not driving as I am totally jet lagged.

Didn't you go for the flybus from airport itself?

No, didn't opt for flybus as I had to visit my house in Jayanagar

The highway is fully shut.
Right under the Kengeri arch I saw a truck/bus ablaze. Then near University, the road was blocked. Next, Bidadi junction was blocked. Near Adigas junction a big tractor tyre was set ablaze and a couple of Scorpios and Innovas were parked perpendicular to the road over the bridge, completely blocking it. Big jam there.
If at all you had a tiny inkling about venturing onto the highway, don't. Please don't.

( Saw all this from the Tippu express; Bangalore to Mysore. Thankfully, the train wasn't stopped anywhere. :))

Section 144 has been applied in Mysore till 14th Midnight. Avoid visiting Mysore, its better not to get out of your houses at all.

I think the best idea if one has to commute b/w bangalore and mysore is use Train. Even my friends who are going for holiday/vacation yesterday, went till hosur in train, and then caught a TN bus to their destination. People coming back from various destinations can also attempt do that.

Slightly Off topic, Apparently there was a huge rush for unreserved tickets in trains going towards Kerala - Possibly due to Onam rush Plus cancellation of many bus services.

Whichever the reason, be safe! It is best to cancel/postpone a vaccation/visit rather than getting caught in all these riot-like situations

There was a Bangalore - Trivandrum special that left today before noon that looked like an un-reserved train with no Sleeper coaches.
There was mention of such a train for to cater to Kerala during Onam and the ongoing situation.

Is it safe to travel to Mysore now? What is the current state?
I am planing to travel on 16-Sep-2016 around noon.

Mysore is absolutely safe and from what I gather from my friends, Bangalore is back to being peaceful.
Should be ok to travel.

Advice you to travel post 5PM as there is a call for bandh in TN. Roads might get blocked around Mandya. If you leave post 5PM, road blocks might be lifted by the time you reach Mandya. No issues in Mysore, it is back to normalcy.

It is all fine now. You can monitor Mandya traffic Police page on Facebook. They provide proactive updates on the status.

In case of road blocks or any other incidents, you can call them and they will help you out. Numbers provided by them below.

Balaji: 9448642225 ,
Krishna(Subbanna): 9945771796
Raju: 9844253421
Arun: 7353583300

Mysore is absolutely safe and is gearing up for Dasara. The conversation I hear from all the chai stalls also is that we're tired of the bandhs. Very little violence reported in Mysore as well.

Planning to drive between Bangalore and Mysore for a one day trip tomorrow. Is everything ok en-route? I am planning to go through Mandya.

Thanks

Haven't heard anything obtuse. Should be alright...as no water is scheduled to be released during your trip (so no agitations anticipated).
