Hey Guys, We (Me,Wifey and Kiddo, 4+Yrs) are planning for a vacation during Good Friday week of April. I had thought of Coorg and Wayanad. But one of my friend who visited the coorg this weekend told me that it was very hot out there.

We prefer non-crowded, serene and calm places like masinagudi or coorg, where we would find plenty of nature and decent options to stay. we may start on Wednesday evening and start the return trip on Sunday evening.

Please suggest.

Cheers,
Rajesh

You can check out chikmagalur/kemmannugundi.
Wont be too crowded, and will be relatively cool too.

You can plan for Bhadra Nature camp. One of my colleagues just came back from a good drive and stay there.
He is gaga-ing the same.

Cheers,
Anup

You could also check the nature camp in Muthodi wild life sanctuary near Chikmagalur. It is a great place to stay and very few people know about it , so it will not be crowded. But you might have to make your bookings in advance.

@figo united: Thank You Figo, we had been to CKM many times yaar,no doubt its a good place, but we want to explore something new.

@Anup: Thank You Anup, may i request to pass me on few details about this place ? like distance frm blore? Options to stay ? cost involved for the stay ?

@NewPunter: Thank You buddy, do you have details of that place ? Cost, distance ? etc?

2500CC,

Why dont you look at te option of exploring Malenadu making Tirthahalli as base? It is a nice drive of six hours and you can explore many places. It is not crowded at all. Take a look at my travelogue.

Bhadra forest range is near shimogga. Its around 250-300 kms from Bangalore. I've been there and its a very nice place, with huge backwaters. I knew a friend who stayed there, so stay was not a problem for me. We also stayed in the forest overnight at the forest guards place, and had a stroll through the forest with them too.
There is a jungle lodges resort there too. You can check out on their website for details and booking.

Most important: Its a JLR property. Check availability. I bet, it would be full!
Long weekends are always full!

This place is operated by the forest department, so don't expect anything fancy. But it is a great place to stay and the cost is next to nothing. The location is awesome and inside the sanctuary. There are very few vehicles passing through and not many people visit it, so it is very peaceful. The food was very good (although nothing fancy ). If you want to just relax and enjoy nature without spending a lot of money, this is the place to go. You can find the details on how to book here. You just need to call on the number given to book a suite :

Muthodi - Wild India

Isnt Ooty an option that could be considered?Sherlock is the ideal place to stay if in Ooty.If not Ooty, then Kodai too is a very good option.

You could check out Wayanad. Check in one of the homestays and have a relaxed holiday. There's a nice lake and an island you could visit.

Since you are planning a 3-4 days trip, you could spend a day at Bandipur too.

Ranjit: Its going to be summer and Ooty is one of the main summer spots. Even if I get into the Sherlock's I'll have to pay them the premium for peak season. Is it worth it ?

Well not sure of the rates,we were there last summer(Mar last week/Apr 1st week) and the rooms were at INR 3K per night. Not sure what are the rates this year.Contact person at Sherlock is Christina-094430-52890.The place is definitely worth it,I could vouch for that. Its on a peak so slightly higher than Ooty town as well. You could take a look at the pictures at this travelogue

Thanks to Ranjit, even I ended up going there last year and the place was fun.

Here are some snaps which I had uploaded then.

Some premium would definitely make rounds, but even I would say, it is be worth it.
