Btw, you can still go to Half moon and Paradise by boat - just hope they are operated in monsoons.

And yes, do stop over at Om beach at night; it is blissful. If you are lucky with a moon-less and cloudless sky, the phrase "you can't count stars will come alive". With almost 0 radiance from lights, you can see the sky amazingly clearly.

And most importantly, do have the bon-fire at Om beach; almost all the shacks and Namastey cafe provide wood for it so you can spend some hours around the fire.

Lucky you Sachinj12.I was the one who planned this but i did not get to do it .i am sitting at home and you folks must be hogging miles every ticking second with gas pedal dug in and the turbo slamming air into your powerhouse in full glory.enjoy

Guys,

You can take Bangalore - Haveri - Sirsi - Kumta route. Since that is my native place been there around ten times in last 1.5 years. A good 6.5 -7 hours drive to cover 485 km. ( Around 360 km 4 lane highway and 120 km good single road ). Then you can proceed to Murudeshwar or Gokarna or Goa.

Shimoga route is normal single road, requires more attention & night driving sometimes painful.

Cheers,
Viju

We did this route on return. Good roads. Thanks for the route.

Half moon and Paradise were closed due to monsoon. It was a cloudless and moonlight night.Splendid it was. And I am utterly disappointed with Namastey Cafe. More on that later when I pen a travelouge.

Ahh, so typical:D. Not to worry, we are rollin' once we get done with our little commitment. This time we drive to Goa:).

Alright, doing this circuit again!

This time from July 24-28 with different companions.

So, what are the surroundings places I can visit during this time?

Routes and road conditions?

Budget Hotels?

Places of interest?

Would be grateful if somebody could come up with a tentative itinerary.

PS: Group of 4. Max 5.
We want to do it at a leisurely pace. No rushing around.
Need to be back in Bangy on 28th night at all cost.

Edit: I forgot to add. It's a boys trip, so you know how the trip will be:) Please suggest accordingly.Temple not a priority. But wouldn't mind visiting if its in vincity.

If Murdeshwar/Gokarna are not fixed as endpoints and you are fine visiting places in between,
then here is a ready made template; Courtesy @fauji!

Thanks, I did go through them.

But boys insist beach is a must, so I guess Murudeshwar-Gokarna are included. Unless, an alternative beach is suggested.

What say on this?

D1- Bangalore-Hornadu-Sringeri (halt)

D2- Sringeri-Murudeshwar (halt)

D3- Murudeshwar-Gokarna (halt)

D4- Suggestion needed.

D5- Suggestion needed. (Return to Bangy by evening at all cost)

PS: Any info on the reported naxal activity on the ghats? Are they safe to travel?

For D4-D5 you can do Yellapur/Sirsi/Jog circuit. This can include Yana as well.
At Yellapur you can visit Magod falls and I forget view point where you can Kali river in a huge expanse. Sirsi would include Yana.

The view point is jen kallu gudda. Sunset time is best to visit this place.

I was trying to Google about the place. Strangely I get two references to its location. One near Yellapur (this is what I am aware about).
The other on the Charmadi ghats. Are there two places?

The one I have been to is near yellapur. I am not aware of the other one.

Won't Yana be difficult to trek in monsoon? Add to that the leeches there?

Where to halt on day four?

Revised itinerary,same dates, what say?

D1-> Bangalore-Murudeshwar (H)

D2-> Murudeshwar-Gokarna (H)

D3-> Gokarna-Jog falls- Sringeri (H)

D4-> Sringeri-Horanadu-Dharmastala (H)

D5-> Dharmastala-Belur/Halebediu-Bangalore

Then I guess you would going up and down on NH206. (The same route.)

Your first option was good. Take plan and one the way back you come via Yellapur/Sirsi Jog.

The following makes a good circuit.

Bengaluru, Karnataka to Bengaluru, Karnataka - Google Maps

You can decide on halting stops based on available timelines.

I think this itinerary is very much doable. What route are you planning to take from Jog falls to Sringeri?

This Jenukal gudda is located between the Shiradi and Charmadi ghats. This can be accessed from Sakleshpur and Mudigere. I have a picture of this mountain and will post it later.
