VIVA CRDI or Fiesta

Hi,

I am new to this group, I am Manu from Cochin presently own a Santro DX 99 model an RD350 LT 1989 and a Honda Dio2005.

Now I am looking to sellSantro into a slightly bigger car. In my mind I Have two choices one is Ford Feista Diesel and Accent VIVA CRDI.
The average driving in a month for me will be around say 1000-2000 KMs and out of this 500 Kms will be driven in the city.
I am really confused on which one to go for
The main thing is that it should be easy to drive for my wife especially in the city and should be good for me in long drive.
Another query is that do VIVA CRDI give ABS as an option?

How is the ride quality of VIVA?
Has anyone tested both the cars?
I like VIVA as a good looking car but confused between Feista.
please provide your expert opinion on this issue

Hi Harish,

If u go by Overdrive mag's view, they think the viva is a better car.

However, between the fiesta and the viva,
fiesta has a smoother engine and more modern and well finised interiors. Also, it has better handlig and ride than the Viva crdi.

The Viva has tons more power and torque (in fact, it performs better than its petrol equivalent). OHwever, teh rear seat in the viva is quite cramped and its suspension is really soft and wallowy.

FE wise, both should give u 13-14 in city with AC and about 19-20 on highway.

Also, Hyundai's ASS is way better than Ford
Hope this helps.

P.S. If i were u, I would go for the viva in red and get 14" alloys fitted from teh petrol verion.

I would have probably gone for the Fiesta primarily since Hyundai will soon bring in a new version of the Accent. The Viva may then be discontinued once the new Accent Verna) is launched.

Go for the Fiesta with ABS. However it will not be as powerful as the Viva. Otherwise the rest of it is pretty good.

What are the prices you are getting for Viva CRDi with ABS and Fiesta TDCi with ABS ?

I would say the Accent VIVA. It's more powerful is also pretty safe, and also has more appeal than the Fiesta.

Maintaing a Hyundai would also be cheaper then the Ford over the long run..spares, service everytin is cheap!

Before you buy either car, please find out what the After Sales Service (ASS) is like for Ford and Hyundai, especially since you're buying a diesel.

I think you'll be better off with a Hyundai.

Hai,

Just as Karthik said maintaining a Hyundai will definitely be cheaper than a Ford.

I was talking to my friend y'day, who works with a Hyundai dealer, and he told me that Viva will be discontinued around June this year.So if you can wait till that period, you can get more discounts on Viva too.

Best Regards,
Raj

I'd suggest the Viva. The reason being Hyundai's after sales service. And the Viva isn't a bad car at all. The only plus point for me (with regards to the Fiesta) would be the rear seat and slightly more modern interiors.

Regarding what jraj said about the viva being discontinued, if thats true, then maybe you should wait for a few months (if you can) cos I'm sure you'll get some awesome deals on it.

Do you need a car immediately?? If not wait till may or june, when hyundai launches the verna they will discontinue Viva and you "might" get a pretty good deal on it

Ford Fiesta. Add ABS too.

Viva CRDi has come to the end of its life-cycle.

I would reccomend the Fiesta.
Forget the power for a second and think about FE, Safety, space, build quality, ride, handling and you will see why i reccomend the Fiesta.
Cheers.

Lambo,

I thought the Accent CRDI offered better FE and handling. Besides you got to consider the After Sales Support and the availability and cost of spares before you think of buying any car.

Cheers,
Manish
