Should I go for Lancer GLXd?

Hi experts,
I need an expert adivce from you.
Please help.

I own a OHC(Type 1) 1998 model.
Modifications done:
1. Headers.
2. K n N airfilters.
3. Spoiler.
4. Pioneer HU ( Dual subs n speakers ).

My friend gave me a deal for buying a Mitsubishi Lancer GLXd.
Its a 2000 model diesel car.
Hankook tyres n Magwheels.
Its showing 42000 kms in odo.
Owner claiming its giving 20kmpl.

Deal : He's ready to close the deal in Rs.65000 given by me.
P.S : I am keeping the speakers, HU and header.

Should i go for the Lancer?
help.

P.S : I am sorry if i have asked any ignorant questions.

Yaaa...

Why exchange an OHC for a lancer??? What advantages???

Even the lancer is now 7 years old...

(The guy might be looking for an OHC to do some mods... And you are offering an OHC+ money to him...)

Hey JK ungle, i may have to dis-agree (if you are talking about performance of the diesel engine ). Lancer D's are not that sluggish. They are Much better than 1.8 D (Endura) Ikon.

Dude, Sounds like a good deal.

hey bro,
the lancer is an amzing car to drive.
It may not be as fast as your OHC but it will keep you happy.
The Pre 2002 lancers had amazing build quality and were very very reliable and the cost of spares has also come down.
Go for it!

Hi Mik
Best of luck .Its a very good car and I am using it since 2003.I am getting an average of 20kmpl in highways with A/C on.It has run 78k kms till date and going great guns.Yes prices of spares are little expensive but you get a very reliable machine... Just adhere to the routine service intervals and you wont have any worries

MIk
Just check the mileage on a tankful to tankful basis. If you are using the car primarily in city then 12kmpl is good enough. If you want to grt the highway mileage drive at a steady 65-70KMPH and if possible refill in the same fuel station because there will be variations in the fuel dispensers in different pumps.I am getting an average of around 20KMPL in highways and around 11-12kmpl in city..//

proper maintanance of vehicle contributes to good mileage. Check tyre pressure atleast two weeks(1 week would be better).Fill fuel from a trustworthy pump.Sudden acceleration and panic braking wastes fuel like anything.Using A/c at full blast reduces FE.Unnecessary idling wastes fuel.

On cold starts idle for atleast 3minutes before taking off and do not use hard acceleration for the first 5 minutes atleast...
Welcome to the lancer family!!!

Lancer diesel is a good car....as you rightly experienced..a drop of power is bound to happen..when you compare it with OHC...but keep in mind that Lancer is a tuner's car...... You can put in a turbo ..for power.. K &N or Pete's tuning kit.or jus drive it as it is
