Fiestas are usually reliable if well taken care of, especially the diesels. If in great mechanical condition, the asking price seems reasonable. The running of this car is on the higher side so do try to test drive the car and judge the operation of the clutch, steering rack, and pay attention for any strange noises or vibrations. The car is solidly built so rattles in the interior shouldn't really be a concern. Just watch out for electrical issues, since our 2006 Fiesta had a few small but unexplainable gremlins.

However, please make sure that you have a competent Ford aftersales centre or an independent garage nearby. Ford service centres can range from absolutely brilliant to downright terrible. Since the Fiesta is discontinued and Ford has left India, this is extremely important.

This link will take you directly to my reliability and aftersales experience of nearly 16 years with a Fiesta and counting, albeit petrol. Hope that it helped and good luck with your decision.

What makes the 1.4 Duratorq diesel engine special is the refinement itself, it speaks like a diesel, but in a very soft manner. On the other side, diesels are known for injector failure which can dent your vallet. Post-2012 models doesn't have this injector problem. The rear suspension is prone to rattling. Problems in some cars reported were with the bushes and dampers.

Take a look at the exhaust in diesel-powered Fiestas. If you see black smoke emerging, it could be a sign that the injectors need cleaning. This is a common issue which periodic maintenance usually takes care of. If the clutch feels very heavy or releases with a jerk, it indicates that the clutch is worn out. Fiesta was notorious for high spares costs earlier, but over the years Ford has reduced spares costs. Look for electrical system glitches, mainly with the central locking and power windows.

Most Fiestas sold in India would have seen well over 1,00,000km and it's tough to find a less-used car unless it's been lying idle for sometime, which is unlikely! In your case, the asking price of ₹ 1,25,000 seems decent considering the condition.

Is this the same 1.4 diesel found in the 1st gen figo,if yes the engine is good but nvh is very bad. Vibrations at the pedal and quite noisy as well. Guess that is to be expected of Diesel mills.
