Booking has been done and hope to get it soon.
Great choice! Congratulations and happy mile munching to you and your family. Carens is one car which is hard to reject once you experience it. I am sure you kids must have loved it even more.

Amazing choice buddy! Hope to see a writeup on that! The Carens is a feature-packed family car, so it'll keep all the family members happy! The engine is a very smooth engine - very less engine noise, smooth shifting, the works!

Just a quick question, is Apple Carplay/Android Auto wireless or wired? Asking for a friend!

Thank you!

I did not specifically check, but as per the brochure, all variants except Premium (base) have it wireless.

Re: Which safe & spacious 5-seater car with a large boot?

If your prime importance is spacious 5 seater, i would blindly recommend City ZX. Recently needed 2nd car in my garage and i added pre worshipped 5th Gen City ZX MT and my family is absolutely loving the space and comfort it offers over our Verna

Congrats on a great purchase
Looking forward to an ownership review once you've driven enough and are comfortable.

What is going on with Honda though? Multiple accounts of don't care attitude across regions!
Was their customer service department fired and weren't expecting the Elevate to do so well?
The market has rewarded Honda with astounding response to the Elevate, I hope they don't squander it away with poor service.

Would recommend looking at Ertiga for the application. Decent space and boot. I would also seriously look at ciaz, Brezza too if I were in your place.

Re: Which safe & spacious 5-seater car with a large boot?

Need some suggestions on City v Verna v Marazzo

I am looking to buy a new car with a budget of Rs 20 L.

My requirements:
1. Reliable
2. Safe
3. Comfortable and spacious

We are considering:

1. City: Ticks all the requirements. I am just skeptical about its ADAS (which cannot be avoided).

2. Verna: A good alternative. It got a 5-star in GNCAP. Cabin comfort is almost on par with City (maybe a bit lower than City). Also, we get good features without ADAS too.

3. Marazzo: I find it to be very good in terms of comfort and space. It does not come with many bling features, but I am fine with that. It has a 4-star safety rating as well (although it comes with only 2 airbags). I am just doubtful about its long-term reliability (as per the Marazzo review thread, there have been a few niggles) and a few safety features missing, like curtain airbags and ESP. How much of a deal breaker are these?

I did consider few other options like XUV 700 and Hector. But I would like to priortize cabin comfort and space over bling features (hence, the marazzo). Moreover, these two cars would have lower FE.

Any suggestions from the BHPians would be really helpful.

First of all will rule out the Marrazzo as it has been discontinued already. You'll only be looking at the preowned route for that. I'll pick the verna over anything that you've provided the list of. Verna is the perfect bunch of whatever your requirements are, plus you can opt for the turbo-petrol which is a hoot to drive honestly. Otherwise if it's the major A to B commute then the 1.5L NA will suffice.

Also maybe look out for the Harrier or the Slavia/Virtus. as well since these also are good choices. Seltos/Creta twins are good options but with a stiffer suspension setup and lower space on the inside as compared to the Verna. Harrier is bigger. I'll take the GNCAP ratings with a pinch of salt but you can definitely check the Carens as well.

The official website of M&M lists the Marazzo. I checked with the dealer and it is available with them.

Yes, for my needs a 1.5L NA would suffice. That is why I am looking at City and Verna.

I am not looking at the TATA stable. But I can surely take a look at Harrier.

I completely agree that we should take the ratings with a pinch of salt. But I do not want any compromise on the safety part. So, I am a bit skeptical.

You can try the pre facelift Alcazar, if available with local Hyundai dealers. They are going at good discount and some variants should come near your budget. Certainly feels premium.

I would suggest re-considering XUV700 as there are quite a lot of variants below 20L (on-road) without ADAS. It is spacious and comfortable.

Also, if mileage is a concern, you can opt for the diesel MT/AT, which would give decent mileage in the long run. If you opt for the 5 seater or fold down the 3rd row in a 7 seater, you get a pretty large boot, and most importantly, it has scored a solid 5 star NCAP rating, so it should tick all the boxes for you.

However, you should keep in mind that it is going to be more expensive to maintain as compared to all the other cars which you have shortlisted.

My suggestion would be dropping the Marazzo!

Any reason why you aren't considering the Virtus/Slavia twins?

If not, then the 1.5L NA Verna seems like the best option for you!

If I may ask, any insights on why verna over city?

There are two reasons; first, I felt Verna and City are more value for money and fulfill my requirements.

Moreover, I do not live in a metro. Here, we have only one VW/Skoda dealer, and I have had bad reviews of them.

Marazzo! really?

Reliable, safe, Comfortable and spacious. Innova base variant would have been ideal but it would stretch your budget by 2.5 lakhs.

Coming down to the chosen ones both the city and verna are close competitors.

1. Interiors, look and feel, features of Verna are much more futuristic than city which is more classy or outdated to an extent. Also, both seats and boot are bigger in Verna.

2. But City performance feels a tad better or sorted than Verna if you are driving the CVT. In case of manual it wouldn't matter much and will depend on how you drive it.

Drive both and let us know what you feel. Happy hunting.
