Recenty i took a drive with ESTEEM LX 2003 . ESTEEM has more space than i need but i liked the DRIVE. so went thro couple of old Esteem offers . would be more convenient if i can get something AROUND 1.5 or max 1.70. should i go for carb or MPFI( 2000 model) what are THINGS to be taken care of & looking for suggestions. im also getting an offer for maruti 1000 96 single owner company maintained done about 85000 km. seems it gives 12 km in city .looking for opinions. TIA
Requirement .
single Driven .At times 2 or 3 would travel. monthly 400-500 KMs in city & about 300-450 in hiways. mixed 900-1000km per month.
looking for COMFORTABLE drive mainly w/o any body or back ache / good mileage /easy maintenance .

An MPFI Esteem should be the way to go

the mpfi esteem fits the bill

the 1000 would feel underpowered as you have driven the esteem

and the 1000 is a 11 year old car and it would have maintenance issue

You may need to stretch you budget a little bit. Do that and get an MPFI one.

Btw, nothing wrong with the carb one, but +20 horses on MPFI are quite a number to ignore.

Also, get in touch with Chennai Esteem guru Esteem_lover

Go for the MPFI esteem buying a underpowered 11 years old 1000 is like getting someone elses trouble and paying for it

Like most of them have mentioned go for the MPFI version. Even though there are lots of conversations going around that esteems are going to be phased out, dont worry. Parts will be available for at least another decade if not more.

Esteem is a drivers car. The fun is in the drivers seat. The FE and maintanence cost is reasonable. Its definitely a worthwhile investment.

If you can, try and get the VX model. Power windows, power steering etc can be a boon especially in city traffic.
