OHC 1.5 VTEC - Is it all a hype or are we not looking under the hood? Hi,
I've been doing some research in the past few weeks on OHC VTEC. And found the following from various forums/websites/people.
1. OHC VTEC is good for it's VTEC engine
2. Speed and power (1.5Ltr, 106 bhp)
3. Better mileage (12-17 kmpl)
4. Low ground clearance(worsened by delicate suspension)
5. Poor/'not-suitable-for-Indian-roads' suspension
6. Uncomfortable/crammed rear passenger cabin
7. Poor safety mechanisms
8. Heavily limiting payload (I read somewhere it's 400 kg - passengers+luggage). Very good for driver and one passenger with luggage or four passengers with no luggage.
9. Poor braking performance
I would like to hear from the veterans on this forum (both VTEC owners and others) on these. Will greatly help me to decide one way or other.
My need is to get a good car with decent performance (I already drive 1600 cc, 103 BHP car) which does not compromise on safety. Most of my day-to-day driving is in the city, but we get on the highways quite often (at least once in three months) for 8-12 hr long drives. So, safety is of highest priority for me.
I invite candid comments !
Regards
Rex
