Official verdict of MAI would come out after Jan 15th
Like other mentioned Specs on roll cage and suspension needs to be validated.

But the rally insiders are very confident that no changes would be made to RSC. Existing roll cages and suspension are gonna remain the same.

Having waited so far..why not hold off for another few days...

Wo, guys... thanks for the overwhelming response! Now I'm more confused than I was initially

Be very careful!
Is it humanly possible to check for chassis flex?

There is a rally commision meeting this weekend, so i would advice to wait until then and make your decision. There are words about change in suspension for RSC for 2008. There were couple of changes made to roll cage specification before the K-1000 rally last year.
Check out whether the roll cage is up to the current specification.
AFAIK the rollcage spec change was to get in line with FIA regulations (specifically disallowing bolt-on rollcages). From what I've heard, too, specs are unlikely to change.

The problem is that there are other people lined up for that car... let's see.

Insider news just in: no change in regulations for any of the rally classes for 2008.
I've had someone look at the car and everything looks good... I'm going ahead! Thanks a lot for the inputs, guys!

Here's what I need to do next:
1. Suspension + seatbelts
2. Tacho with shifter light (any ideas?)
3. Suit + gloves + shoes + helmet (almost forgot those)
4. Do RSC folks usually use intercoms? Someone said it's a good idea since if you miss even one call, the cost of repairing the car would be greater
5. Find myself a navigator(!), crew and part-sponsors

Am I missing something?

Cheers,
Oversteer

Hey Oversteer, just wanted to inquire as to what suspension changes you had to make for the rally? I Would appreciate a bit detailed specifications as I am also planning to have a rally based suspension mod for my MPFI Esteem. The reason, am planning a Delhi-Lahaul-Spiti-Leh-Manali-Delhi drive sometime this year.

Fellow BHPians, would changing the stock shocks to taller ones with a high spring rate help? How would it affect the handling of the car? If not the above, how about having 50cm spacers on all 4 shocks? Also would appreciate if someone could help me with the price figures for suspension changes and cost of skid plates/fuel tank guard for the car.

MODS: Kindly excuse me for reviving this old thread but I felt this was the best place to put my questions. Please feel free to move it wherever applicable.

Thanks in advance!
LoG
