Buying a Diesel sedan.. Need Help

Hi,

I am planning to buy a diesel car in Delhi. The reason to look for a diesel is that i will be driving about 90KMS a day.

Following are the cars i have shortlisted
1) Swift Dzire VDI ( I don't mind waiting period)

Drives Good. A little cramped, but i am not a tall person.

2) Logan 1.5

I found stearing a little hard. But over all its a good car to drive. I think this will not fit my budget.

3) Indigo CS Dicor

TATA... Have not heard good about them. Also this DICOR is a new engine so we can expect a lot of issues

4) Ford Fusion
I love the shape, but Ford A.S.S is expensive.

My budget is about 6.5 L on road.

My priorities while buying the car are.. should be fuel efficient, safe and easy to maintain.

Gurus on the forum, please help me make right choice.

Thanks in advance.

Swift Dzire VDI is what I recommend after running my Swift VDI for 1.5 years and 23K KMs. the following reasons for the same -

1. Great Engine
2. Great FE
3. Good After Sales Service

I had a problem with ECU which was the only major one which was fixed with a replacement of ECU within a week. Other minor ones (Rattling etc.) were promptly addressed.Compared to Hyundai (My previous car), Maruti service a notch higher.

I have heard horror stories of Tata and Ford better avoid them if you want your car to be productive and reliable. Logan is too new to comment.

Thanks DieselFan!

What is the FE you are getting with the Swift VDI?

Logan seems to be the best bet in the choices that you have provided. It has a pretty refined, FE & reasonably well powered engine. If you are ok with a hatch, Swift D or Palio D or the tyrewallahs' favourite Getz CRDI would be good bets.

Logan 1.5 DLE should be within your budget.

Then its better to wait. From your post, it seems that you are pretty much interested in Dezire. Then why hesitate? Go for it. IMHO the other options do not have any strong USPs either. Situation changes, if you can afford to buy a Verna though.
