Used NHC or Dzire?

hi guys..

need a bit of advice.my sister is planning to upgrade from her 5 year old indigo petrol to a better petrol car in the budget of around 5-5.5 lac.

cars seen :

1)honda city gxi: april 2005,32000kms,single owner,insurance expired,in good condition.price quoted : 5,30,000

2)honda city gxi : june 2004,42000kms,single owner,insurance till feb 2009,in good condition.price quoted : 4,85,000

3) aveo : aug 2006,19000kms,insurance till aug 2009,mint condition,single owner.price quoted : 4,50,000

guys, plz advice between the three.test drive for all the vehicles has been taken by me as well as sis.she found the city more fun to drive but the price seems on the higher side.which of the 2 gives better mileage?

other options include a brand new dzire petrol with a waiting period of 3 months.test drive vehicle not available.dealer asked us to drive the swift petrol/dzire vdi.
sisters family includes 4 adults and a kid.the adults are tall and well built.

is it better to go for a used car or a new car.kindly advice

It is always advisable to buy a new car.
Swift petrol is almost similar to the dzire petrol (only it will be a few tenths of a second slower and a half a litre less efficient - due to the brakes)

The city is a nice car and will be any day better than an Aveo
Check the city for the condition before buying one.

Also This is the wrong section to post the thread .
( MODS PLEASE DO THE NEEDFUL)

City GXi 2005 model would be a decent buy IMO. Try negotiating for the price
as the New City s also around the corner. Where Dzire loses out is rear legroom so stick to the Used City or is there any possibility of giving a look at the Logan ?? It might fit your bill too or else stick to Honda !

NHC 2005 GXI will not be more than 4.7 L or so, so negotiate a bit. Anything close to this will be good buy. And Honda is anyday anytime better with swift.

thanks a lot guys for your prompt replies.
while we were having a TD of dzire myself and my brother were seated on the rear seat.both of us are tall and well built.i dont think a 3rd person could have accomodated.leg room and shoulder room are pathetic.

@karan : i find the logan a good VFM but my brother and sis dont like the look of it much plus heard that logan depreciates real fast.

@sam : the dealer refuses to budge below 5.20lac.will try to negotiate more once the choice is made.

@abhinav : why will the dzire be less efiiciant due to brakes??

p.s : sorry mods for posting in the wrong section

NHC 2004 should be available at around 4 (available as low as 3.25 -3.5 in kolkata). Low mileage and good condition.

Try to bargain for the NHC and if you get it under 4 go for it.

Go for the Swift Dzire. Its always better to buy a new car.
Ask them to try the rear seat of Swift Dzire. If comfortable, then go for this car.

Out of Aveo and City, go for Aveo. You can get this car for a lower price and is almost as spacious as the City. The car you have posted here about is a good buy considering the low milage it has done.

If all 5 travel together frequently, I wouldn't recommend the Dzire considering all adults are tall and well built. Back seat and back seat legroom would be better in the Indigo. Think again!

thanx a lot guys for your valuable inputs.
dzire is out of consideration now.
aveo does not have a good resale so that is out too.
99.9% its gonna be the city gxi.
will let u all know once the deal is cracked.
