Baleno Lxi or Accent GVS

i am fairly sure on the answer for this question.... but nonetheless am asking the... which is a better bet... talking stock cars here.. would it be the Baleno lxi or the Accent GVS...

the options are fairly zeroed in... so NHC is ruled out... so is the swift, indigo, petra etc....

pls help me pick the better of the 2... and most importantly WHY??

cheers....

If looks matter more, go for the Accent.
If performance matters more, go for the Baleno.

Baleno. Looks or otherwise. I feel it is a much better car than the Accent.

Baleno Vs Accent

Pros:
a) More mileage (~12 vs 10 for city driving with AC)
b) Better performance without any doubt
c) Maruti ASS is great

Cons:
a) Latter looks much better
b) Resale value is marginally less than the latter (but this looks like it will change in a year looking at the current trend!!)

So basically, the only things that the Accent has going for it is the looks. And like I have mentioned before, you can drastically change the way the Baleno looks with about an extra ~30K bucks and also improve handling a lot. Yes, am talking about alloys and wider rubber (and maybe a spoiler if you fancy it!).

Baleno -
1 . Comfortable for the passengers seated behind - plenty of leg room .
2 . Powerfull engine .

Go for the Baleno. If they had offered it for this price in '02 I would've bought it over the Accent that I eventually picked up. I've been told that the GLS now comes with the 1.6 litre engine but I havent been able to verify this - in any case you get better rear seat comfort in the Baleno.

Accent is due for an upgrade sooner than later so you may have trouble with depreciation if it happens sooner than imagined. If Maruti can help it, they will keep changing grilles, bumpers and headlamps to keep it going for as long as they can.

Cheers

True. Accent doesn't look good, but next to a Baleno it does. Baleno looks too old, late 80ish look.

baleno the way to go. doesnt look that off the hook, but like sonic said, that extra 20-30k can really change that!

Baleno Lxi. If you leave aside the looks, the car is good value for the price you will get it for. Its got a great engine, a powerful air con, Maruti salse back up (though Hyundai Sale and service is good too, infact equally good). The tyres are really skinny and inadequate but some wide rubber and meaty alloys should do the trick for you. If I remember the Accent GVS is now rebadged as the GLE.

Happy car shopping

Dippy

P.S: Saw a black Baleno LXi today with good tyres and wheels and I thought it really looked good
