Wanted help in buying a second hand lancer diesel

Guys, i have come across a second hand lancer diesel car 2003 model with some good exterior modification like alloys, autopshyce kits, Modified bonnet etc it has run 60k. My question is it has got a altered sports muffler in it and my mechanic said since hes modified the same the engine life would have gone due to some pressure watever. Even i dont remember seeing any diesel cars with muffler bieng modified. I kinda like the car very much let me know if there will be any issues in the engine.
