Accent CRDI for 4laks

Hi Guys,

I am getting an option of 2 used cars in New Delhi. I am interested in buying one of these. Please tell me if correct price is being quoted. These are from a dealer.

1. Accent CRDI
clocked 37000kms
color black
Nov 2005
price 4 Laks.
Single owner
(1 question, is it possible to tamper digital odometer to change the car's mileage)

2. Chevy Optra LS
clocked 55000 kms
Price 3.75 Laks
Color Cashmere
has Alloy Wheels.
2nd Owner (I will be 3rd owner)

1) Accent CRDI - 4 Lacs

Hey, the price dealer is quoting is exorbitant. You may get it around 3.25 to 3.5 Lacs that too if the car is having good tires, replaced battery and clutch (if need by).

2) Chevy Optra LS - 3.75 Lacs

I dont know about chevy's, so no comment.

In most cases, the dealers tamper the odo for better marketability.

All the best for your car search !!!

Thanks,
Pradeep

for accent, 4 lac, as per carwale, seems to be a reasonable price.

but IMO 3.5 Lacs is a good amount to go for.

Optra being a third owner, IMO its not worth to buy. (year???)

And about tempering odo, well, in India virtually every car in used market is being tempered with.

IMO the Accent CRDI did come with the digital odometer, I may be wrong on this.

The no 1 give away - Tyre date, whether original or replacement, and check the date of manufacture (Month/Year) on the tyre.

Generally the CRDI should have lasted its first set of tyres. Additionally see for clutch change. You might be lucky if there are signs of the flywheel cover being opened for clutch replacement. (if done)

Else look for the door sills and the frequency of services. I.e. 1st month free service how many days from the date of purchase/registration. Then extrapolate the average kms done between two services, a seller can fudge the kms, cannot fudge his usage pattern, if the car has been used extensively you will be able to get a ballpark figure of his/her usage.

Cheers and hope this helps
