Good VFM Sedan type car for office use?

My CA has been bugging me for quite some time about what showing up for business meetings in a Gypsy is doing to my image: "non-serious" apparently!

So i am considering going in for a good VFM sedan type car for daily office use. Since i am shifting office and new place involves a 30km daily round trip, upwards of an hour in Pune traffic, I might get a driver while i am at it so i can polish off some work during the commute.

I checked out the Indigo CS (or is it LS?) on the weekend and like the extended wheelbase and the extra space at the back. But overall I am getting negative feedback about the Indigo. I have only gotten so far in my search.

Checklist
1. Good comfortable seating/ergonomics in the back
2. Not to expensive to maintain. Dont want a garage queen. Good service network
3. Sub 7-lakh.
4. Open to diesel/petrol

Suggestions welcome!

Why not a Tata Manza? It is spacious, has good eq levels and safer too.

re:

If you are the one, who will be behind the steering, go for Dzire. Else, if you will be driven by the driver, go for Manza.

Accent will suit your purpose best, it has good service back up and its not expensive to maintain as well. Another option is Ikon TDCi, its comes at very good price and its not as expensive to maintain as the old Ikons.

Indigo is a good car but having owned a Indica i would not even look at one, though the newer Manza is a good car.

I did not vote as i am unable to Justify the Indigo CS vs Corolla VFM factor.

I voted for the Manza. Its comfortable, spacious, improved, fuel efficient and new on the block with a good service network.

But, what is the this thread doing here in the Indian Car Scene? Mods: Shouldnt this be at the What Car section??

Manza or XL Indigo is excellent for the parameters mentioned.

Theyve really raised the bar with the Manza no doubt about it.

Better get some 'live' user reviews though

choices

i think the list of choices needs to be modified, there is no comparison between manza, city and corolla. When its a sub 7 lac choice the following should be listed( in addition to the manza)
1. Swift dezire
2. Entry level Ford Fiesta
3. Ford Ikon
4. Hyundai Verna( again entry level)
I voted for manza, however i feel for a non spirited driver needing comfort and space and reliability- Hyundai Verna is also a great bet( i feel under rated at TBHP tho)

A used Corolla. It will do wonders to your "image". A 2003 specimen should be well within your budget.

I have voted for corolla. This car will surely boost up your image & better than the other cars in the list.

The Indigo trio looks confusing, I voted specifically for the Manza QuadraJet (FIAT) Diesel don't buy the TDi (TATA) engine'd XL (Xtended length) or the CS (Compact Sedan < 4 meter).

My FIL recently booked a Manza QJD, the USP's being the King size rear sofa and comes loaded at 6.5L OTR.

I think that you are getting this car for image as Gypsy is not suiting your profession/image.

I will suggest you Dzire. Reason is that this car has got better image due to swift although people dont like the looks. This car will get all the things you want and is also nice car to drive. A.S & S. is the best, cost of spares is also not very high, and many parts are shared with swift so overall maintenance cost will not be very high.

Maruti cars are reliable and Swift/Dzire is not an exception. Reliability is guaranteed with this car.

Next in the line is Accent. Accent has good interiors, but is clearly dated and the rear seat is very low. Not very comfortable if you take the car for longer trips.

Swift Dzire is more modern compared to Accent.

Indigo has gather a Taxi image which is not surprising.

IMO purely from a business entrepreneur image Corolla is the best, followed by Accent. If you are also open to consider cars outside your list you might consider Fiesta as second option after Corolla

As has been expressed, if Maruti Dzire would have been included in the vote list, it would have been very close to Manza. Further Indigo CS/XL and Corolla shouldn't even feature here.

Sub 7 Lacs and you keep Honda City & Corrolla as options !

Of course those are really great cars BUT 10 & 14 lacs.

I will not suggest the Hyundai Accent for you as it is an absolute VFM sedan BUT the back seat is poor and it's a decade old with it being possibly phased out any month.

I will list out these cars -

Ford Fiesta ( Base Variants of either ) - they have some great deals at the moment
Maruti Dezire

If you want to go for a second hand then I'd say go for a Corrolla.

Dahling,

Ikon TDCi will suit the purpose. But business tycoons would do well in a used Toyota Corolla. Bulletproof, staid but with status, and utterly reliable.
