Help with OHC, NHC Variants

Hey guys,
Have been breaking my head over the specs of discontinued cars in my search for a used enthusiast's car. The City is a hot favourite but I can't find differences of all variants and hence can't make out what is meant by the terms of description such as ZX/EXi/GXi by looking at year of manufacture in used car market. I have listed below what I found from TBHP and elsewhere. Request you to please fill up the gaps and add info to make this complete.

OHC:
Type 1- 1998 to 2000 (1.3 EXi with 93 BHP, 1.5 EXi with 100 BHP)
Type 2 - 2000 to Oct 2003 ( also 1.3 EXi with 93 BHP, 1.5 EXi with 100 BHP; Changes: Clear Headlights at front n clear rear lights at back, Bumper redesign and minor interior refinements)

Q1. When did the VTEC come in, 2000, and what was it called?

NHC - Nov 2003 to Sep 2008:
This got me messed in the head.
Initially only one engine type- 1.5 iDSI with 78 BHP.

Q2. What is the difference in EXi, GXi?
Q3. Is this NHC called the Dolphin? (Saw an old print add in TBHP with the City and 1000kmpl Dolphin shaped vehicle)

Q5. What is ZX? Did it come in 2005? Did it also have iDSI and did it also get called EXi, GXi? Was it also the Dolphin shape?

Q6. When did the new VTEC head fitted engine come in? What was the VTEC Plus?

Q7. When did the CVT engine come in, what was the variant name? Was the CVT also a VTEC?

I don't think I have left any major variants of the City (not discussing the all new City since it's in production and all details are available). Even though from what I read here, I'm inclined to find and acquire an OHC VTEC, the considerations of a relatively newer car in case of NHC have to be accounted for when I compare. I'd appreciate if knowledgeable people fill in the gaps. If these questions are answered elsewhere, please delete this post and redirect me. Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. I was looking for consolidated info under one head so no one after me has to search long to find these details. I do now know that the ZX came in 2005 but when? And what of the VTEC? I also found that OHC VTEC pre-2002 has a jerk problem at low RPMs. However, don't know how it was cured by old hands. Any owners of OHC and NHC, please clarify? Did the NHC VTEC suffer this jerk problem?

OHC 1.3 was 90bhp not 93!. Also, originally, there was OHC 1.3EXI and 1.3LXI, later in 2003 they had shifted to 1.3DX IIRC ...

=> NHC got a facelift and it was called ZX. It was launched in November 2005. It had EXI, GXI, GXI CVT & VTEC. VTEC model had the new VTEC engine and others had iDSI engine.

Q6. When did the new VTEC head fitted engine come in? What was the VTEC Plus?

=> The new VTEC engine was introduced with the ZX model.
VTEC Plus is the higher varient of VTEC and it was offered only for a short period.

Q7. When did the CVT engine come in, what was the variant name? Was the CVT also a VTEC?

=> CVT is the automatic version and it was launched with NHC. Its model name is GXI CVT. CVT came in the GXI trim. CVT had the iDSI engine.

I've tried to answer some of your doubts. Hope it works.

Anand, I read about the Dolphin on this forum itself, the NHC was called that because of its shape with a stubby nose.
Shan2nu, seeing you're a graphic designer, request take a look at my thread on ergonomics comparo between Linea and City- the WB of City and Linea don't scale correctly if length is kept correct. Perhaps you could suggest a solution.

@Shan2nu,Anand123: Guys, wasn't the NHC VTEC higher on power than an OHC VTEC? Correct me if I am wrong, it was rated at 118 bhp to the 106 of an OHC?

The ANHC is rated for 118 PS, the NHC VTEC was 100 BHP against 106 BHP of OHC VTEC.

Guys, not sure if I can put this query here but, can anyone please let me know the location of the embossed chassis number on an OHC Type II?! I know there's one on the aluminium plate fixed in front of the radiator. Is there any other location where this number is embossed!? It's kinda urgent!!

Well NHCs are referred to as Dolphins by various dealers.

i know it's an old thread but wanted to gather some info on OHC before i buy one

1. about the typeI and typeII, did they differ in the tail-light styling? 'coz i've seen some OHCs with baleno-styled tail-lamps too.

2. about the power steering, which year models (1.3 and 1.5) came with power steering? or did all/none of them come with power steering? and how much of a difference does it make?
