Indigo SX

The new Indigo SX version is super cool. SX is a diesel version and the petrol variant is GSX. But since petrol engine of TATA cannot be relied upon, I am thinking of investing in SX. With the whole bunch of features under this version, dont you guys think that this is THE VFM car around? The is truly packaged amazingly. Let me know your views too. If there is anybody owning the SX, please comment on the ride handling and the NVH proportions.

Yes. There are changes to the engine. The Engine is now TDi (Intercooled) engine and has improved power to that of older indigo. (70PS @ 4500 rpm).

Hi Surya.

Indigo SX is good value for money. The interiors do give a feel of luxury, which is badly missing in non-sx models (LX etc.). The beige dashboard hides the poor plastic texture, and looks decent. Not to forget the video screens...
All in all, it is a good value for money, but dont expect Fiesta 1.4 like performance in city. Even with TDi, its a bit harsh in lower gears.

SX is indeed a a good package but what do you base this sentence on?

"But since petrol engine of TATA cannot be relied upon,"

It may not be the best around and has its cons but I dont see any reason why it cant be relied upon..I mean did you have bad experience with it?

dceite, 70 bhp to 68 bhp for the Ford, is there a huge difference in favour of the Fiesta in terms of torque ?

I meant that TATA petrol engine cannot be relied upon in driving pleasure when compared with Esteem, Ikon and Corsa. But when it comes to diesel engines TATA engines are next only to CRDi. This is what my gut feel is.

as tifosikrishna said
All Euro 3 Indigo come with Intercooler

on SX there are only cosmetic changes if I remember correctly
So handling and ride quality will be same

Since new indigo is coming soon(Most probably Feb), why not wait a little.
As for the SX, unless you are chauffer driven, the VCD player is pointless. LX means much more VFM for owner driven cars.

TSK - Is the new release in Feb going to be a CRDi engine from TATA? Any idea?

Its going to be "Long Weelbase". Abou the new engine it is speculated to be DICOR. Petrol engine may be upgraded to new 1.4 unit(rumoured to be 100bhp) since Tata is offering 50000 off on petrol indigos and indicas. Diesel may also change as 35K discount is available on the diesel marina's and indigos
