Converting 35 mm slides to JPG format

Team BHP photography specialists..
I have located my beloved album that contains great pictures of my RX-7, Ninja 250, FZR 600 and 750PASO. Now, I had slides made - based on my friend's recommendation who is also the photographer. They are very good quality pictures.

I have located a couple of places that specialize in converting Slides/Negatives to JPG - but they are in the US. One of the companies ships the slides to BLR to get the job done. I have asked if I can drop-off and pick up from BLR instead of BLR-USA-BLR-USA-BLR...

Any thoughts?

Try contacting this company in Mumbai : ::: Mathenson ::: the diglTising people . I heard that they do slide scanning at 4k dpi.

There are a lot of people in bombay who do this stuff. Or you can buy a scanner and do it yourself. I have a scanner at home which i had bought years ago and paid through my nose.

Buying a scanner is not an option if you need 4 -5k dpi.

Scanners cost 10 lakh+ Though for casual use you can get flatbed scanners with slide adapters for 8 - 15k.

Krishna,

You can also contact Mazda Photo Imaging, Mumbai. I believe they too do these kind of work and are supposed to be very good.

Mazda Photo Imaging is surely a good place in Bombay. However in Bangalore you can contact Print System. Call Vishnu - +91980245803.

Scancafe has agreed for me to drop off and pick-up in BLR...

I should have the pics in a week. Look forward to it...nostalgia time..

Did you find something, i am also looking for something similar and spoke to a few folks. With large number of photographs the cost is coming equivalent to buying a scanner (a good one is about 4-5k). The folks i spoke to are charging INR 7/- per photograph.

Yes I ended up using scancafe - they charge around 27cents [US] per slide. They have done a good job - you can see my postings - these were taken in 1992/93..
