The Kite Thread

Since we have threads on multiple topics thought of having one on Kites.
Invite Kite flying experts to share their opinions on this thread.

Basically I am trying to buy a Delta Kite or a Stunt kite in India.
But could not find any online / local dealers.

Would appreciate it if anyone has any info of where they are available in Bangalore ?

Posting a pic of a Delta kite

[This one is a big kite, But they are available in smaller sizes as well]

Re: The Kite Thread

Dont know if you will get such Delta kites here, perhaps a ready to assemble one from outside of India can be bought.

There is no demand for such kites here(needs a lot of open space) and people prefer to use the normal sized kites to fly from their rooftops.

I have seen such kites at the Decathlon store here in Bangalore. Checkout their website.

Re: The Kite Thread

You can try 20north website and search for kites. I think they have a few in their collection. Discovery stores in US carry some nice ones. I had one such thing, not sure where it now, sadly. Oh how I miss the roof top days of good ol Cal. Specially 17th of Sep.

Re: The Kite Thread

Thanks for those who gave me pointers.

But talk about bad luck .

Decathlon Bangalore stocked it for a long time and it was retailing at 1,999/- But since they were not able to sell it. Yesterday they had a Sale and put it on for just 299/- and cleared their stocks.

The say they have no plans to get further stocks since its not a moving item.

Incidentally I was in the process or getting their membership when they had this sale.

Just FYI in case anyone in an around Bangalore South is interested.

I believe there is a Kite flying festival in the open ground after the park next to Ragavendra Swami Temple, JP Nagar / Jayanagar 5th Block.

Re: The Kite Thread

I could recollect my experiences of flying kites from roof tops as I was a kid. More than 15 years ago was that. I guess now it is banned in Chennai.
