Price of ECM(MGA)
Maruti 800(4gear MPFi) Rs.10685+ Tax
Zen VXi with EPS Rs.14990 + Tax
Esteem VXi with EPS Rs 14990 + Tax.

U can also source a used ECM at half the MGA price.....

I'm planning to upgrade my type 1 SX4 (2007-2008 model) non VVT to type 3 (2009 onwards) to a VVT based one. I believe that an ECU change and CAM headers are the only required changes. Can someone help me in sourcing these at Bangalore. I checked with dealers and they laughed. (Am I talking to wrong people). Also I would love to change the seats, headrests and suspensions (using MGA parts) available for new SX4.

It would be much better if you exchange your current SX4 for with the latest one. The cost as well as reliability risks involved in 'converting' one would be much higher than the price difference in exchange. Also there are many other differences on the blue print between the two engines than the ECU and CAM profiles. Plus, sometime down the time when you would like to sell this car with all these mods, it could be a problem.

Selling is out of the question for now :-( . I want to keep it for some longer time. Have put in some equipments (sun-roof - 42k), swapped the wheels (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/tyre-a...aruti-sx4.html), ICE upgraded (Dynamat 4 doors Damping + Rockford Fosgate 4ch Amplifier + RF Components & Coaxs + RF 12" Woofer) - Don't want to loose too much in depreciation. Atleast the suspension in new SX4 (which is better and softer setup) is a job I would like to get done, so was looking for MGA shop. Upgrading to new SX4 again will be again giving birth to things I have fixed in my current car (to my taste) and new EMIs again. Regarding new head, my objective was to improve FE and low end torque. I am open to other aftermarket options welcome. I can start/post on relevant threads.

Improve low end torque. I'm unhappy to downshift to first gear in stop and go traffic when I've to maintain 10-15 kmph speed. (also FE gets better I've heard)
