re: The Bangalore Metro rail (BMRCL) thread!

^^I think it's the same for Hyderabad metro too. No parking at stations. Atleast provision for cycles should have been considered. Not everyone has stations nearby, some would need to commute (public or private transport) to the station.

Coming to cycles, they should let people carry cycles on the train, it would be so helpful!

re: The Bangalore Metro rail (BMRCL) thread!

shamanth, was it overcrowded today - ticket bookings and coaches?

I'm planning on a ride tomorrow provided it's not too crowded.

Between Trinity circle (the station is near Nalli Silks) and CMH Road station (near A2B) there is one more station in Ulsoor.

Thanks for correcting me. It took nearly 30 mins in the queue to get a ticket at MG Road. We took ticket till Byappanahalli but got down at Halasuru (Immediately after Trinity). While return, the fare mentioned above is from Halasuru to MG Road

Metro rail is inaugurated and welcomed in Bangalore. Seems Chennai will get it after next assembly elections. Seems the seats are only side sitting and standing spaces are more. Hope people will maintain the neatness of the train coaches.

Very true. I've over-heard from people that they are planning to take a joyride this weekend. I'm definitely gonna avoid the areas close to metro this weekend

Has anyone seen the Byappanahalli Terminal? Does it have parking facilities available now? Or will these be available at a later date?

re: The Bangalore Metro rail (BMRCL) thread!

Me too joined the scores of bangaloreans who made a beeline to one of the metro station to have a joy ride.

Decided to leave the car at home and try the public transport mode.
Left my home at 5 30 and within 5 minutes, got on to a metro feeder. Reached the Byapanahhalli station around 5 50 and joined a queue to get the smart cards.Took 5 minutes to reach counter and got 3 cards for my family.

Took the escalator to the reach platform.

The platform was jostling with scores of people (mostly families, like me ,who had come with their kids).
Had to wait for 8 minutes for the next train to MG road. Meanwhile, I took some time from the waiting period to click the beauty who was waiting in the next platform.

As soon as the train came, people were rushing to get in. We didn't want to sit and travel and hence found a comfortable place where in my daughter could see the views outside.

Coming to my daughter, she calls the metro as "train in the sky" as she has seen the metro running on the pillars and for her, anything running above ground is in the "sky".

We reached MG road station in no time. Came out and saw a huge queue for people wanting to get in.

Decided to take a stroll on Brigade road. And this was ,if I remember correctly, after 4 years since my last stroll on Brigade road, all other times, i just drove through the road, after seeing fully occupied parking slots.

Had a quick bite at Bask N Robbins and returned to MG road station to join the queue to get in to the station. Good thing was that the queue was moving in a good pace and in 10 minutes, we were inside the station and moved on to the platform for Byapanahhalli.

Got in to a jam packed train after a wait of 10 minutes, reached Bpanahalli and hoped on the feeder bus to reach home.

Apart from the long queue for getting into the station at MG road, it was a smooth ride. Good job from BMTC in running frequent feeder services.

For those who want to take their cars, they do have parking at Bypanahalli station. One entrance to parking is just before the station entrance (on old madras road). There is another entrance to parking, at the first traffic signal after the station entrance.

Parking area is not fully paved but then you can park your vehicle.
