I frankly don't remember why I chose the handle though I like red and proud about my red cars. All the vehicles in my garage are Red or white. Except a silver Innova and a Omni don't recall any other color since my birth.
My First car was Volkswagen Vento Allstar Variant. Most of my names and it's derivatives were taken. Looks like apart from the exceptional moderator Aditya, there are quite a lot of members by this name.
I wanted a techie/nerdy name, not tied to any company/product. Very happy with what I chose.
I got my username when I got my first computer in 11th standard back in 1999. Working with visual basic and flash animation, I thought of myself as a wizard or something like that sort stupid:
Its - dipdawiz -
first three letters of my name,
"da" as in "the" - internet lingo and
"whizz" as in wizard, another internet lingo; but did not like the "h" and extra z in it, so "wiz"
Huge fan of the Lord of the Rings movies. Nuff said! :D
Went for the simplest way possible. My actual name followed by my Medical college University roll number and hence it is "vivek95"
Name (avdhesh) plus birth date (15) = avdhesh15
It's my username by default everywhere!
I'm a big fan of Michelin tyres. It's mascot is known as Bibendum ( michelin man ). To individuate, the last 5 digits of my phone number 90949 is suffixed and there it is my user name - bibendum90949 :)
Some trivia on Michelin and Bibendum. Source : Wikipedia.
Bibendum, commonly referred to in English as the Michelin Man or Michelin Tyre Man, is the official mascot of the Michelin tyre company. A humanoid figure consisting of stacked white tyres, the mascot was introduced at the LyonExhibition of 1894 where the Michelin brothers had a stand, and is one of the world's oldest trademarks. The slogan Nunc est bibendum (Now is the time to drink) is taken from Horace's Odes (book I, ode xxxvii, line 1). He is also referred to as Bib or Bibelobis.
A poster by "O'Galop" of Bibendum, the Michelin Man, produced in 1898.

While attending the Universal and Colonial Exposition in Lyon in 1894, Édouard and André Michelin noticed a stack of tyres that suggested to Édouard the figure of a man without arms. Four years later, André met French cartoonist Marius Rossillon, popularly known as O'Galop, who showed him a rejected image he had created for a Munich brewery — a large, regal figure holding a huge glass of beer and quoting Horace's phrase "Nunc est bibendum". André immediately suggested replacing the man with a figure made from tyres. Thus O'Galop transformed the earlier image into Michelin's symbol. Today, Bibendum is one of the world's most recognised trademarks, representing Michelin in over 150 countries.
Been a diyer since my childhood, used to make torch lights, projectors, tinkering with electrical and electronics from the age of 10. Hence the handle.
I was a big Nirvana fan back in the day (when I was 19). 22 years later, its still one of my fav bands and login id for most online accounts.
Looks like I severely lack talent finding cool usernames.
During my initial years creating various accounts online (mail, forums etc), I found that mostly my preferred handles were taken and then I ended up using my name.
It slowly became a habit and now I prefer it that way as I find it is simpler and cleaner.
My high school education is from a convent school. First novel that we got to read once we were in 6th standard was "Treasure Island". Yo ho! Yo ho! Bottle of Rum, hope someone gets it. In that novel there is a huge ship named "Hispaniola" that takes the crew to the treasure island. It has been 14 years since I first read that book and this name Hispaniola is favorite since then. I tried registering for quite a few times since 2012, but I am happy I never changed this username. This time got lucky indeed.
In over 15 years of me being an avid reader of the forum I've always wondered what the stories/inspiration is behind your team Bhp handle. I think it would make for a great light hearted thread if whomsoever is comfortable would like to share their inspiration.
I'm most keen to know the inspiration behind GTO, because it's the one name I've seen on every other thread for so very long.
I'll start with mine - "KaurDiCar' : Well my last name is Kaur and I love my cars. Its in Punjabi which literally translates to Kaur's Car.
Looking forward to your responses.
Thanks,
Kaur
Well this username is with me since my engineering days. I was not a gamer back then but this name comes from one of the popular games that time. ;-)
