TopGear Generation Game!
(Old Cars V/s New Cars)

Well this arguement is a very strong topic between Fathers and Sons around the World. It has happened to me! And I know handful of friends who've been there too. Now TopGear Came up with this very same Debate, and they did what they do the best! Put em' against each other on the TRACK!
They took 5 cars from the older generation against the 5 cars from this generation (same make - eg: Maruti 800, that first shape *I dont know what they call it* V/s Maruti 800 MPFi. ) and made them go head to head in a Drag Race.

Edited - The winners are in BOLD
---------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Old Golf GTi V/s New Golf GTi

2. Old Toyota MR2 V/s New Toyota MR2

3. Old Ford Escort Cosworth V/s New Ford Focus RS

4. Old Peugeot 205 GTi V/s New Peugeot 206 GTi

5. Old Nissan 300ZX V/s New Nissan 350z

Well ofcourse the Episode was amazing, Jeremy and Richard were at their best! Should get it at Kazaa or other P2P Sharing Programs.

I've also made a poll on this, which one would you select 'OLD Cars or NEW Cars'? Or if your an Idiot you can select BOTH!

*U may select OLD even if you have guessed that - all New Cars will win in the battle (the poll is just for what ur heart suggests you).

I would stick to the new cars. Maybe the older ones have an edge on the drag strip, but the new cars come with better handling and can lap a circuit much faster.

Regards...

GTO - 2 correct!

And Shan2nu, what u said was perfect, but Tiff Needel did a similar show in the late 90's ON A TRACK.. And Believe me, you'll be surprised with the results. Though ofcourse it was like 5 years from now. But what he said was, the newer cars weigh more than "The Moon" (in Jeremy's terms), all the new gadgets, saftey packages etc, etc, etc just dont help the speed much, though they're much safer, practicle but we're just talking about which one's faster, not which ones better..

Anyway, now who'll picked up for - BOTH, common - be a sport and show up!
I voted for BOTH too..

Ill go with old,
New enviormental restrictions et al are tightening the noose on horsepower, but we are getting around that slowly but surely.

Theres a nice raw experience in the old cars which new ones lack. i.e, imagine trying to drift but the nanny electronics cut in and prevent this.

Am surprised that the old Pug 205GTi lost out, the new 206 just does not cut it for the seat of the pants experience.
