any inputs on afghanistan?

gyz....any inputs on how life is in afghanistan. one of my friends recently got a job outhere, and is in a fix whether to go there or not.
any inputs wd be highly appreciated!

There is only one sector in Afghanistan that is actually making some money and there are two companies going around the world trying to recruit people - Afghan Wireless and the Aga Khan's Roshan Telecom.

Stay away from both. If your friend has been approached by somebody else, I cannot comment on the same.

Better safe than sorry. He can get plenty of jobs in safer countries.

hey steeroid, he has been approached by Afghan Wireless, buy why did u say to stay away from these two companies? any particular instances known to you about Afghan Wireless, are they not good people? or the working conditions are not good? Please feel free to express as he is my BEST friend and i dont wanna misguide him. I'm trying hard to find some contacts here in US who know about TSI (NJ, US) who are the principle firm behind afghan wireless. (www.tsiglobe.com)

I would not want to work there. I remember venturing to Peshawar in 2004 and finding the place too rough for my liking. The people do not give two hoots about the law.

Best to be safe than sorry. Lots of such work is also available in Iraq (as is security work for ex soldiers). Best avoided if you value your life.
