re: Air Deccan and Kingfisher to merge.

Well if the deal will happen then there has to be a very big "sweetener" in terms of many current lenders writing off some more bad debts. Again the original promoters will enjoy the biggest benefit if it happens. Most of the debt and the distress is borne by other parties... mainly the lenders, the vendors (ranging from those hawking paper clips all the way to aircraft lessors) and the employees.

Interesting times ahead....

I have my doubts. They are talking to both KFA and Jet. 20% in the latter looks a much better deal.

Etihad in talks with Jet Airways for investment.
The deal, if closed, will be the first since India relaxed ownership rules in September last year and allowed foreign investors to buy up to 49% in domestic carriers that are battling stiff competition and high operating costs.

I think the Jet-Etihad link up is a done deal. Ironic that Jet had some West Asia equity till the Govt forced the foreigners to sell out. The circle will now be complete.

re: Air Deccan and Kingfisher to merge.

Jet has stolen the show with Etihad with a 25% stake for the foreign airlines. The deal will be announced tomorrow is what the news is currently. So the king of good times looses out once again, not surprising.
