How to: Burn Avi/DivX onto a VCD

I have a lot of movies and videos that are in Avi/DivX format which are in perfect high quality. When burning them to a VCD using Nero, the quality deteriorates too much. The videos come dark, grainy and are not smooth. I know this, because I've tried it with one of the videos.

Does anyone know of any method/software to burn such movies/videos on to a VCD?!

The videos are bound to lose quality. Considering DivX is a highly compressed AV format and VCDs isn't. The resolution in DivX encodings is usually above 640*480(variable) and in VCDs is bound to 352*288.

The easiest way outta this is to buy a divx enabled cd player. Not too expensive these days.

yep gordon no point re-encoding the DIVX's into sucky vcd format. Instead get a Divx enabled playa. Better still if you download movies from the net often then download "KVCD" movies. KVCD movies are near dvd quality movies that are the size of a VCD ie. 700MB. KVCD movies come in CD Image formats so you directly burn then on to a CD. And most of the underground releases now-a-days are in kvcd or rmvb formats. we can't do much with RMVB but KVCD definatly pwns

If you convert your Divx to 2 VCD (from 700 mb to 1400mb) than there wont be a drop in quality. There are many freewares that convert AVI to MPEG or AVI to VCD. I use Easy Video Converter.
To convert AVI file to DVD I use DVD Lab PRO. Great software.

I have about 5 DivX movies which I would like to burn on a DVD which can be played on my Pioneer DV-383 player (DivX enabled). Can someone help me to get a menu done so that I can select which movie I wish to watch from the 5? Is there any software which does this?

A simple google search with MPEG4 to VCD would give you hundreds of softwares. There are a lot of those in the market, some paid, some free. Use one which suits you.
http://doom9.org would be a nice place to start.
