this is what i bought - the packaging indicated it was made in india. It's worked fine for a over a year now, but there is some slight rust inside


Sunglasses - I bought two on ebay, one was great and the other was crap - Was trying out cheap options for polarized glasses for driving - The good one has been in use for a few months now without issues

Parker DE razors come in single-piece butterfly-open and 3-piece. Parker can be bloodthirsty and requires proper technique. I rate it very highly and the attention to detail is as good if not better than its competitors, but I cut myself too many times and switched over to the Edwin Jagger which doesn't require as much thought.

You will get Godrej Shaving Round (GSR) in small department stores in most cities, not big ones like Spencers, Reliance, etc. GSR is very popular in rural areas and availability is usually high. Once you have a quality razor, GSR or Godrej Shaving Foam and Gillette Black blades, you are all set as India has some of the best shaving disposables for DE shaving in the entire world.

Thanks a lot. I know about parker , I already got one parker fitting mach3 and stand and escali brush from US amazon for my father but don't want to spend 2k on myself now( merkur is what i love among them).
I have tried godrej shaving round is small places and asked local barbers too, everyone remembers it with nostalgia but none has one.

Stuff I have for my father, Beautiful stuff all ( nearly 3 years old now). Would highly recommend them

Where are you guys sourcing those Gillette Blacks from?
I was looking at buying Feathers blades from Amazon.in - there does not seem to be cheaper option to buy online. I am reading good things about Gillette Black here, so I might as well try those first.

Should be available at local kirana stores - I have seen them at stores here.

Just wanted to say that after 25 years, I have left the regular disposable razors (No longer a slave to the Gillette Corporation)

I am not someone who shaves regularly, I like letting my beard grow out. Once it gets too thick, I trim it with my Remington trimmer and then shave it clean. My experience with razors so far has been limited to the multi blade Gillettes (Mach-3 Turbo and Fusion) and I have to say I prefer the BSC razor any day.

The finish of the shave is as good as the multi-blade razors, if not better. Plus, the whole procedure of shaving with this kit, with the bundled wash and foam, for me, is the best part of the overall experience.

Granted, there might be better razors out there. I did search online for razors and other accessories but most of them were quite expensive. For someone who is not accustomed to mechanical safety razors, this makes a very good starting point.
At 2.5k you get the razor, shaving cream, face wash, after shave balm, shaving brush all packed in a stunning looking box!

My bad. I assumed you were referring to those triple blade razors being sold online. Those are really bad. A usual safety razor is something I prefer and thats what I see in that package. I'm heading over to the site now. Needed a good quality safety razor. Most local ones get rusty soon.

A short review on the Bombay shaving company kit. The kit comes with:
1. A pre-shave cream
2. A shave cream
3. An Aftershave balm (alcohol free).
The razor itself is stainless steel and has a good weight associated with it. It comes with 2 shaving adapters, one for a more aggressive shave and one more for a less aggressive shave!

So, here is the deal:
Firstly, it is good. No doubt about that at all.


I have not used the Merkur's etc - so i cannot compare them yet. Merkur's being world famous *may* be better. Others can comment.

The razors come with Feather blades, and i belive that the whole process of using pre-shave and the shaving cream, combined with the Feather blades is what gives the best results. If you dont use the pre-shave, somehow, things are not as great as they should be.
The razor took a little getting used to. I nicked a couple of times but after a few shaves, it is nice.

I was earlier using an electric Philips shaver for over 8 years. This one gives a closer shave, but it needs a little more time while shaving. A good lather is NECESSARY. So, one has to religiously use pre-shave, then the shave cream, get a good lather, and then shave. And usually just one sweep should do the trick.

On the whole, it makes you pamper yourself a little. So, although it takes more time, its something i look forward to!
